We issue a garuntee of independence, to ensure that your national integrity will not be infringed upon.

OOC: Better get a definition of what they feel is their 'national integrity' is before making such a sweeping statement - you might be acting to secure the entirity of Dar al-Islam ;)

@Sicilian rebels: :lol:

Speaking of your orders, you could only have one project at the time.

You sure?

So you didn't do anything at all with them?!?!?!?!

To Greece:
From Krakow:

We Recognise your Independence.

To Russia :
From Krakow :

Where is the promise of letting the Ottomans maintain Istanbul as their capital? and why is there a push into Turkey where evidently holds more of a muslim majority?
Also, where are the free states in the Balkans?, If i recall the Czar promised independent states there.

Das, i believe my project should be at 2/10. i had 2 pts to use last turn. 1 into education, 1 into project progress.

Right you are...

From: The Islamic Caliphate
To: The Kingdom of France

We welcome your proclamations, and would request a French advisory team (small at first, to keep our people from becoming agitated) to recommend reforms for our fledgling nation. We have planned for some sort of council, made up of eight respected and educated Muslim men from various areas of the Caliphate, to act under the Caliph as advisors. If there are any Muslims of French descent that you would recommend, we will admit one.

From: The Islamic Caliphate
To: The Afghan Khanate

We wish to discuss a partition of Iraq. For our part, we would also like to make it known that our claims extend to all of Libya, Arabia (excluding Portugal's territory), Syria, and Turkey.

From: Venice
To: Spain

We have made our position clear to the world. The areas we have taken over are not ready for independence - there is total chaos across the Balkans, and if it is not put under control, it will spread across Europe. Venice cannot allow that.

If an independent state is formed, a civil war will start and most likely an Islamic theocracy will form. Venice cannot and will not allow that.

The regions have been taken in as part of the Republic; they will have all the rights that Venetian citizens enjoy, and for the time being will enjoy special benefits as we try to make the living standards better for our new regions.

France and Russia have agreed with this, but our own ally Spain will not? Who do we trust now?

Here's a clarification of the Caliphate's claims. We'll pay an economy point to the Khanate for the strip of land south of the Euphrates. We wouldn't be totally opposed to the Khanate keeping al-Hasa, as long as we have some access to the Persian Gulf.

We're also curious as to the future of Constantinople.

Oh, great update das!

Good update, no time for diplo right now, need to talk to Panda today, have a plan.

Short and sweet Stormy, the way we like it :D

EDIT:

Sweden would like to voice the opnion that maybe dividing the Ottoman Empire into Ethinic nations would be best, rather than letting another Empire span and inevitably collapse unable to sustain itself....

TO: Krakow and Spain
FROM: Greece

We thank you, and would like to know if we can send ambassadors to your respective nations.

IC: Just imagine the below OOC comment is done as a newspaper article by a noted scholar or something ;). I don't have time to make it nice right now.

(OOC phrasing):Pretty greedy aren't you Mr. Caliph ;). Claiming Anatolia - a region won by the Turks on their own, which the arabs never managed to take...

In most cases dividing along a river makes a good boundary as the claims are very clear, but in Mesopotamia, where there will be very similar ethnic and religous mixes of peoples on both sides and will exist as an integrated economic unit. Added to that the rivers are a) easy to cross and b) subject to flooding and change of course.

Thus the traditional bounds are drawn at the deserts and hills (in arabia and persia respectively) and iraq is kept as a unit. A Shi'a kingdom of lower Iraq as a vassal/semi-autonomous region to one or the other of the (both non-shi'a) Islamic powers is probably the most stable long term* option - now you guys get to squabble over who gets it

*Assuming long term stablity is what you want !

Das, shouldn't project be at 2/6? It is the second turn I've had it.

From Krakow - I tought he agreed for you to keep the land .
I am siding w/ you, the last thing we need is militancy in the balkans erupting into a world war...
you got my backing (as long as you dont take more 'russian' land :p)

Poor Kentharu...this was not a good time to miss orders. In other news - who else, when looking at the russian expansion, sees the head of a bear or beast with europe in its jaws (Vilnius being the eye...)

I see it too! :D

Great Update das :D Though I find it strange that there aren't any rebellions after I allowed women to enter the civil and military service... But I'm not complaining :mischief:

And my project should be at 4/20 :) Thanks
