NES2 VI - Last Semblance of Order.

Romania will be incorporated into the Union of Russia-Lithuania with the same status as Lithuania enjoys. Any attempts to illegitimately overthrow this order will be met with a most harsh response. If the local government of Romania choses to seperate itself from the Union then will be allowed to do so, but the process will be carried out within the legal framework of the Union.

What does that mean? Obviously you wouldnt let us, the Romanian people, seperate from the union once we are in it. If this was true, why not save your precious money and time and just let us have our freedom now instead of haveing us join your "union" and then immediately leave it?
Or is the "local government" a government Russia will choose?`

The romanian people definitely want to be seperate from the union - we want our independence and we want it now. The treaty of constantinople is not acceptable.

Just 1 year ago Europe´s great nations united together in a movement for freedom. Russia, France and the rest of Europe united and diplomatically pressed the ottoman empire into giving all the people in the balkans their freedom. The ottomans were promised war and death if the balkans were not freed. They had to agree and nations such as Greece, Bulgaria and Romania were to be formed. However Russia, that once initiated the fight for freedom, still wanted blood to be shed and after the smoke of cannons cleared Russia had occupied territory once promised to the "free" people of the balkans. Their act was purely based on greed.
But did the once mighty and courageous nations of Europe stop this imperialism and tyranny as they did 1741?

- No -

They hid behind the so called treaty of constantinople and accepted that the tyranny they once fought to stop and end was printed on a peace of paper and accepted through their signature. All this to save their precious backs.

The people of Europe have obviously become

cowards.

The one problem with that being...the Ottoman Empire is over. The Turks, if they wanted to recognize the Caliphate within its declared borders, sans Turkey, could. And we would leave them alone. But the Turks have no ability to retake the vast lands that they have lost.

From an economic standpoint, it's impossible for the Ottomans to continue the fight. And from a nationalist one as well. The Arabs just don't want to be ruled by Turks anymore. There are more of us, and we won't tolerate it. It's over and done with.

From a legal standpoint, you have no basis for your claims. And the Ottoman Empire is still very much alive. As you are about to discover this next year.

The Caliphate finds the silence of France on the matter of the Caliphate's very existance quite disturbing.

We agree to what another nation proposed to us.

The Ottoman Empire reminds the world that the "Caliphate" is a rebellion against the lawful authority of the Ottoman Empire, and that, in this light, supporting it will be viewed as a direct act of war against the Empire.

This seems to be good news.. he tought, he had his room full of maps and papers, more than it usually was. He needed to be prepared and had actually worked out several scenarios relevant to the recent Franco-Russian crissis.
Ranging from a full scale invasion from Russia and France, to remaining completely neutral. But now those maps were carefully folded and kept, they were not thrown away since one never knows if the Franz plan for the defence of tha state would ever be needed to be carried out.

Across the table stood Franz I, He had fought in the same Korps as von Dunkelheit during the wars of the past. They were also both of the same Prussian stock and good friends. "The most capable man in the field" he once said of him. And such was evident, since it was him that was named Field Marshall of the Guard itself.

He maintained extreme loyalty and readiness in the Guard, and fashioned it after the traditional Prussian Tradition. In fact, the uniforms were disigned by him to be very like the traditional ones of Prussia.

The Guard was different to that of the national army in virtually every respect, the command chain was different and the tactics and strategy were of a different school of tought. The Guard was intended to be an elite force that would be used to support the army when it was most needed. However it was also stabished early on that its main use would be fighting alone, separate from the army (altough in coordination) to gain a more specific advantage.
Unlike the armies of other nations, the best of the army did not become part of the Guard. Recruitment in such was separate little well known).

The Best of the Army were part of an elite force but remained within the army. Them, and their commander will be reviewed at a later date.

The Islamic Caliphate reminds the Ottoman rump-state that not only has the Kingdom of France recognized the Caliphate, but it has given it a guarantee of independence. King Julien is an honorable man, and doesn't throw such treaties around lightly.

Obviously he does, as he first guaranteed the balkans their independence, then signed the treaty of constantinople.

OOC:
Well the Balkans are independent - did you not check the fine print of the French being able to retroactively define which areas are the 'the Balkans'? ;)

Also, das could you reply to my PM at some point soonish? Please? :bambieyessmilie:

A rebel group in the Romanian region most certainly has no legitimate claim to representing the oppinion of the Romanian people. A parliamentary system will be set up in Romania in a fashion similar to that of Russia and Lithuania, and if the new government of Romania, one that is legitimate, will request the dissolution of the Union then the Union with Romania will be dissolved.

As a legitimate government would represent the will of the people, why not just ask the people directly?
