What did I do wrong? besides sacrificing couple eco levels...

In your situation that was wrong enough, but you also overstrained national manpower and economy further by quadrupling your army size.

I invested 3 EP (AFTER already investing 10) to ensure that they were properly trained. (they were at elite before the update)

You still treat them like normal squadrons... I did clearly say that 1 is as 5 for ALL purposes.

Those are the Cocos/Keeling Islands.

Mein gott! They really are! :p

*checks orders*

Yes, sorry, forgot those.

To the Malikate of Egypt
From the Kingdom of Finland

We heartily support your entrance into the Holy Roman Empire's Defensive Alliance and look forward to trade relations with the Egyptian people.

To the PUAF
From the Kingdom of Finland

If the PUAF is in any need of Finland's Armed Forces, she has only to ask and we shall arrive with all due haste.

To the Holy Roman Empire [of the French Nation
From the Kingdom of Finland

In this troubled time, we reaffirm our support and the support of the Finnish people. We are ready to do our part for Freedom.

@Das - Out of curiosity, was my economic expansion program completely bungled? I realize it didn't warrant mention in the update (although I was glad to see Frederik's rantings helped French confidence, that was nice ;)), but it would be nice to know if it had any effect at all.

Le Voix du Citoyan Imperiale

Perseverance

Fellow Citizens, in this age of terrorism and treason, our enemies are everywhere. At home and abroad, we find ourselves assailed by the enemies of freedom. Yet there is hope, good Citizens, yes, there is hope.

The past year has seen great advances in the name of Freedom. Our Glorious Emperor, the Defender of Liberty and Champion of Peace, has forged ahead, defying the will of reactionary barons, who would rather see a serf than a Citizen, by rescuing the downtrodden, the lowest orders of society. Our Emperor, in solidarity with our ally, the Provinces Unie de la Amerique Francaise, has taken a stand and told the world, "Man shall not be enslaved."

Yet Freedom does not come without a cost. As of now, the ones paying the most dearly are the heroic soldiers of the Empire, as well as the poor wretches they fight for. These brave young men have left their homeland, given up the good lives we live, free of worry, free of hunger, free of want. They have given these luxuries up that we may enjoy them. But it is time we joined them in valiant sacrifice. We must show the Emperor our gratitude, we must try to give back after so much has been given to us. We must become warriors in our right, fighting on our own battlefield.

For there is a battlefield, Citizens. There is a battlefield right here that is more dangerous than any South Asian jungle or American mountain. It is the battlefield of the mind. We must build a fortress of the mind, protecting ourselves against the vile aggressor, the greatest enemy of them all - the Traitor. This battle is real, Citizens, and it is all around you. It takes place in our universities, where wayward professors abuse their position and lie to our students. It takes place in our streets, where the Traitor uses propaganda to fool you into betrayal. It takes place in our very souls, where doubt and distrust of Our Emperor make fertile soil for the seeds of sedition.

That is not to say, however, that doubt and distrust are your enemies. No, doubt the words of the Traitor. Distrust the motives of the enemy. Be ever vigilant for signs of "Egalitisme" and know that reporting suspicious organizations or people will bring strength to the Empire, security to the Homeland, and peace to the World. That is your Duty, Citizen. Arm yourselves with Faith in Our Emperor and you shall not fail.

OOC: Have you been up here recently? There's nothing ELSE to do. :p

A Brief look at the Capital ships of the Royal Scandinavian Navy

RSN Stockholm

ussmassachusettsbb2az2.jpg

The first capital ship to be constructed by Scandinavia and one of the first ever built is already being replaced by the newer Supremacy-class ships, but despite this it is still a force to be reckoned with. Constructed in 1861 it was the inspiration for several other navies who soon started copying the design.
Being a total of 112 meters in lenght and having a crew of close to 600 it is a massive vessel easily capable of taking on several enemy ships on her own and still coming out on top even though she is slightly disadvantaged compared to newer capital ships due to slightly weaker armour and smaller caliber guns.

The main weapons on this ship are 4 13-inch guns and 8 8-inch guns complimented by several smaller pieces. It also carries some special weapons, namely *classified by Scandinavian Intelligence* making it a fearsome opponent useful on both offense and defence.
The ship was constructed in Danzig and named for the former capital of Sweden in a political move to increase pride in the Union and reduce discontent amongst Swedes. It worked well as pride soared and the people rejoiced. Naming a Swede as captain also did well.
For years the ship was the mainstay of the Scandinavian navy in the Baltic protecting against possible renewed aggression from Russia.

RSN Odin

averofwwidv6.jpg

The Odin is the first of the Supremacy-class vessels that Scandinavia has started constructing to take her navy into the future. Superior to the older RSN Stockholm the new ships boasts increased armour, speed and way better guns.

The main weapon is 4 13-inch guns mounted in turrets for increased flexibility as well as several smaller caliber guns mounted in turrets at the sides of the vessel. As a first it also includes guns designed for shooting down enemy ballons and airships as well as the *classified* weapons unique to the Scandinavian navy.
The ship carries a crew of 1200 during wartime, though is operated with only half that in times of peace. Operating at a maximum speed of 23,5 knots it has already been nick-named "The Terror of the Sea". Coming in at a lenght of 140 meters and with the massive improvements this ship easily puts the Stockholm to shame.

Whereas only the Odin have been completed so far, the Scandinavian government has announced plans to construct an entire fleet of these all named after gods of the old Nordic pantheon. Next to be launched are the RSN Thor and the RSN Tyr.

Stole'd. Should be accurate.

The King is Dead, But the Country Lives

A New Ruler said:
Sadly, recent events in the life of King Abdul Hosnin have led to his untimely death. He died of a rare disease he obtained on a trip to view Rural areas of the Nile. The King, who died at the age of 38, was admired for his accomplishments yet look down upon by his alliances with the Russians. He did before his death set things right with the Holy Roman Empire. And a new age of grand order was set into affect by doing so. The Benghazi-Suez Express, no doubt a project which will lead to great trade ventures in Egypt and throughout the African/Middle-Eastern areas. His last address to the peoples happened in Cairo on April, 15 1781. When he discussed the railway and the new irrigation project. He left for his trip the following month and was dead by July, 23 1781. Chants of respect filled the city the next morning. As his body was led on by a parade to a predetermined spot, which is secret from the public.

Already, after his death was announced, rumors spread about him not having an Heir. Well this is true. He died without a wife nor children. For his first wife died giving birth to a still born baby. Throughout the government the top officials voted for a Prime Minister.

The man they chose was a man of French ancestry, but was a loved man to the peoples as he had served in the army and in the parliament. His name is Jacques, and he is from this moment in time to be known as Prime Minister Jacques of the Malikate of Egypt.

Prime Minister Jacques, started off his new life with a bang, not only announcing Military and Civilian Reforms. He pledged his allegiance to the Emperor of the Holy Roman Empire, and stated “It’s a new era for Egypt, a new life.” Possibly referring to his reforms.

Three members of the Parliament were forced to resign, even though they did so willing, to allow more Francophile members to step up. Time will only tell if this is a smart move for the government, or if it will be brought down in shame. But for now, hopes are high, moral is high, and that’s all that matters to Prime Minster Jacques of the Malikate of Egypt.

Prime Miniter now eh.

A Letter to Jean
August,1 1781

Dear, Jean

Son,now that I have been elected Prime Minister of our nation.I won't be able to see you as much as I will be viewing areas of the country that many will only ever read about. In my expeditions I will be trying to better the nation.Son,I hope you will learn from me and become a good man and possible future member of Parliament. This tuesday I am sailing down the Nile with a few engineers to see the progress of the Irrigation project.Once I return I should be able to take you with me when I go to the Military Forts along the Mediterannian coast. There we will meet many of the four hundred thousand men that serve our nation proud.I hope to meet with members of the Holy Roman Empire's army there. If all goes well we should begin a mass reform of the Armed Services for the better. And trust me,son, theres no other advisors in the world that are as good at what they do as the men from the Empire are.

You always said you wanted to join the army, well maybe this trip will help you learn more about the army and maybe you could pick up some hints from the French.I know how you enjoy reading stories from the World War.Some of these men served in it.Maybe you can hear some interesting tales.;) [1] Well it is time for me now to conclude this letter. We shall meet to go to the Forts in four weeks. After that I have no clue as to how long you may not see me.But until then.

Your Loving Father,
Jacques

[1] He accually drew a winking smily face in the letter. This guy is a true kid at heart.

TO: Provinces Unie de la Asie Sud-Est
FROM: Japanese Empire

Given the formal ceasation of hostilities in Indochina and the creation of the PUASE, as well as our proximity, we are interested in opening a dialogue on the relationship of our two nations, including possible commerce and a more advanced state of interaction. We look forward to hearing from you.

Okay, I will give you five squadrons. But their training level will be very low indeed. ;)
