The HRE is clearly too small, and, as they are nearly "Half the World" perhaps that should be their size.

Actually, after some calculations - the HRE only covers about 26-28 million square kilometres, making it rather smaller than the British Empire's maximal extent (37 million) and only slightly larger than the Russian Empire, it might look larger due to the distortions of the Robinson projection.

It also means that Russia won the IT I award for largest nation ;), the EUA and the HRE both being rather smaller (at that point).

Actually, don't forget that in IT I, the HRE didn't give away its American colonies yet.

It's still smaller than the British Empire ;). They gain 14 million from the American territories, but lack 12 million of Africa, Austalia, and India so its still somewhere in the region of 28 million.

So yes they probably edge out Russia for the largest nation award ;)

It is sad when the leader of a nation completely ignores the wishes of his people and does what is indeed directly opposite to those wishes. The peoples of Egypt have longstandingly cultural and political ties with France - but now, now with your singular military and economic agreement with Russia - you have ignored their wishes, their cultural foundations, and you have cast yourselves in league with a nation your people do not trust. Trust me when I say this - the tide of popular support is against you, overwhelmingly so.

Your comments against us are duly noted.

Signed,
Emperor Valérien

OOC: If you read the BT, Egypt is by and far a Francophilic country, with basically all the intellectuals and urban population supporters of the HRE :p

I was under the impression that was a few years previous and a new leader had taken over.

We are now under the consideration that you find our alliance with the Russians a threat. Is this true? How could you find a threat from,as you so clearly stated,a population with close ties with the French. We will not stop our trade agreements,or military agreements with Russia. As they are mostly defensive. We had no plan of creating an Egyptian war machine.Only a sufficent defensive army and navy.Better the security of the people. And with Russian trade now open, the people can only exspect more trade, more income and in the end a better lifestyle.

King Abdul Hosnin

silver, how do you shove someone's arse up their head? It sounds like a bit of a physical impossibility.

A STATEMENT TO THE WORKERS OF THE EMPIRE
- MAY 1st, 1780, ANNO DOMINI -
ISSUED IN PAMPHLETS THROUGHOUT THE EMPIRE

soupyd2.jpg

Workers of Europe! Today you are at a crossroads - on one road, lies a path to prosperity, to wealth, and to good health, on another lies revolution, bloodshed, and destruction. Either you support the force of right - the force of Empire, or you support the force of wrong - the force, I daresay, of egalitisme, of revolutionary thought, and of treason.

You are the backbone of our great Empire, the foundation of our economic dominance throughout the world. It is you, the working man, who toils for his country, and indeed, all of his countrymen. Do not be dissuaded by those which seek to destroy the fruits of your labour, and cast our Empire in bloodshed. Do not speak of, do not see, and do not hear their evil! Their pamphlets bring theories which are naught but filth. They do not wish for the betterment of the worker, they wish to tear down the very foundations of our lives, and to destroy all which the worker has toiled so hard for.

Is revolution what you really want? Is the destruction of your homes and family what you really want? I do not think it is. Therefore, I offer you a better way. I offer you peace, stability, and prosperity. I offer unto you, unto the common man, all the benefits which our Empire shall be able to bear. I bring to you social reform, I bring to you social benefits, and I bring to you safety. Have those traitors been able to do they same? Have they, with their armed resistance, done anything besides incite you into rebellion, forcing your lives and families into danger?

I think not. Therefore, I ask you - choose the better path, chose a path in which your country shall nurture and cherish your developments, your labour, your livelihood, and your family. The Empire, with your continued support, shall only grow richer - and such riches shall go to every man, and the benefits of Empire shall be felt by all. We shall expand upon our already strong social system, we shall improve the condition of the everyman.

The Empire, if you continue to support it, shall only provide for you. Revolution shall only consign you to death.

You have a choice, choose wisely.

- Emperor Valérien I, Imperator Augustus of the Holy Roman Empire

OOC: Silly Iggy; of course its possible, you're assuming the head and the arse are still "non-independent" as it were, or that exceeding the surviable limits of the human frame represents som sort of moral problme for silver ;).

Great allies, I come to you today with a warning. A warning which has been uttered unto my people and now shall be uttered unto you. Remain ever vigilant, and remain ever watchful. The Holy Roman Empire is aware of those that are attempting to dissuade you from what is right - we are aware of those which are attempting to dissuade you from the protection of civilization. We ask that you stand strong against these attempts, and we ask that you stand united with us, to ensure a strong front against the threats of civilization.

@das, one last question....what would be the side effects of outlawing slavery?

To The Holy Roman Empire
From The Kingdom of Segu

As trade continues to increase between our nations, it is natural desire that we seek to expand it to other nations too. But the fact remains that Segu is landlocked within the continent and has no access to the sea. So we come to ask that if there is any price you would sell the small strip of land that runs along the Niger river to the atlantic coast. We would be willing to pay for it and would be a boost to Segu-French relations.
