NESLife attempt #3

In that case I was probably looking for Stems more than an extra Spores gene, but it doesn't matter all that much. I'm fine with it now.

And of course I don't expect to get the bonus every time, I'm quite amazed I got so many already. Doesn't mean I'm not proud of it. No need to defend your choices there. :)

Socivalion: The Farow
Evolved From: Predavalion
Genes (18): Plankton Eating x2, Flesh Eating x1, Swimming x2, Vibration Sense x1, Eyes x2, Pressure Resistance x1, Brain Power x2, Skeleton x1, Cartilage x1, Jaws x2, Fangs x1, Communal Behaviour x1, Parenting Instinct x1
Description: The Socivalion has as the brain grew made better use of its functions. Slowly, over time social behaviour of rearing of young and group hunting came about. The young would often attach themselves to their parents on the sticky slime coat of the adult. The eggs themselves were also attached to the females slime coat. The young would feed on the leftovers of their parents prey.

Intellavalion: The Farow
Evolved From: Socivalion
Genes (18): Plankton Eating x2, Flesh Eating x1, Swimming x2, Vibration Sense x1, Eyes x2, Pressure Resistance x1, Brain Power x2, Skeleton x1, Cartilage x1, Jaws x2, Fangs x1, Communal Behaviour x1, Parenting Instinct x1
Description: The sea was full of life again. Though their own ancestors they now had to compete with. Using some group hunting and an ever expanding brain these creatures used their powerful intelligence to set up traps for their prey. The stomach regions also changed to grapple with the expansion of their diet to their prey.

-Spend one point on brain power
-Spend one point on complex stomach

Edit: Species changed a little. Not quite ready to go on land yet...

Tripler: C&cciv3
Evolved from: Doubler
Genes (12): Crawling x2, Plant Eating x1, Flesh Eating x1, Complex Stomach x2, Claws x1, Cold Resistance x1, Communal Behaviour x2, Brain Power x1, Eyes x1
Description: With them evolving simple eyesight it allows them to response to threats quicker and if needs be run away quicker on their stronger legs.

To

Quadrupler: C&cciv3
Evolved from: Tripler
Genes Added (max 2): Brain Power +1, Bone Skeleton +1
Genes Removed (max 2): None
Description (Optional): The number of large predators in the seas makes the Tripler, look like a good meal with its only small claws to defence itself and it soft body means normally one bite from a Brown Hunter would kill it. The Quadrupler counters this with it's skeleton for some defence against predators and it's increased brain power allow it to defend itself better from predators and attack smaller creatures like Dibbler MkII and Dibbler-Ice.

Socivalion Mrk II
Genes Added (Max 2 + bonus): Flesh Eating x1, Gills x1, Communal Behaviour x1
Genes Removed (Max 2): None
Description: As the sun came back and populations started to thrive again the Socivalion found it harder to survive once agian. Now there where more creatures fighting for the same food or even seeing them as food. As time went by the Socivalions developed 3 things to help them last. The first was a way to extract more energy from the flesh they ate. Hunting in packs meant a greater portion of their diet was from meat. The second development was a set of gills. These helped shift out more oxygen from the water and was used well with the extra energy gotten from the enhanced flesh eating abilites. The 3rd and last developemnt was a greater communal behaviour. These socivalions found that not as many hunters would bother them if many of them where in the same place and ready to help defend each other. As a side benifit they could also hunt the more dangerous or larger creatures of the sea while in the pack since many creatures just didnt have the weapons or means of defence against multiple targets.

OOC: You'll need more than Jaws x2 and Fangs x1 to get through my Exoskeleton x2 and claws x2 :D

You are not my only prey. I was just using you as an example. I am sure younger ones are vulnerable plus skeletal support I am sure my creature can find weak points in your defenses.

Probably, and I left him alone to see how they do with predators loose and instead took your creature and gave him some more stuff to play with in the water!

Finally, Terradid was yet another success story. It became better adapted to life on land, while remaining the only land animal capable of tackling the more dangerous plants.
What's difficult for Respirytes and Scensurytes eating some land plants?

Large plants, Respirytes and Scensurytes are missing from this continent. Meanwhile it is currently the only home of the Giant Leafworms and Jumping Zibblers.
I declare this continent to be an official Iggy-free zone, until it collides with the mainland once again.

Lord Iggy, your the one witht he creature living in my plants branches. would you care to courdinate our evoloutions this turn. nevermind, i'll just send the PM. if you agree, I'll Post it. if not, I do have another creature.
I'm checking the PM now, though I plan to evolve my Respirytes this turn.

EDIT: I don't think that symbiotic communication is a necessary gene, and making active defenses for your Fanel makes it a big consumer of energy. I think something like 'Sticky Sap' might work better for immobilizing invaders. Or you could simply work on improving the health of the tree- Scensuryte tribes can provide all the defense for now.

BTW Daft, GREAT UPDATE!!!

The movie: evolution was just on!
I was just smiling along while thinking about the many things that may come out of this great game.

Keep up the work guys, ill be lurking by...

I may have posted evolution charts of individual organisms, but why not the ecosystems themselves?

Here's an example:

Awesome yet again Splime. Thanks so much!

And thanks for compiling those pics. Its interesting to compare the different eras :)

but I never wanted it to maneuver on land yet ^^ jump jump on it , mimicking it's swimming on land, to barely move there. It still suppose to be a full sea creature with some land eating habits.

Is it possible to cancel the crawling? (I don't want it to crawl anyway but walk later).

Well it needs to get the plant into its mouth, the right parts of the plant that is. It needs to have its mouth in the right position, which i dont think you'd get by randomly flapping around :). Since it had 'water retention' I thought it was going to be spending a significant amount of time out of water, not just eating any leaves etc that happened to be growing over the edge of the water (which wouldn't be so many, and your old creature would be able to get them anyway). Crawling won't harm the swimming ability, at least not while it remains at a low level.

I mean the spikes and acids and poisons and such, as well as some plants being able to survive in more remote places. The Terradids have a greater level of 'plant eating' and 'complex stomach' than your guys, and they have a small amount of poison resistance (useful against zeeboo poison), and they have greater water retention so they can eat plants that live in drier areas. They also have a tougher exoskeleton, though that doesnt make much difference as none of the current plants have particularly deadly spikes.

I imagine the Respirytes and Scensurytes can and do eat the land plants, they just have to be more careful and 'picky' about it. Basically it seems Terradids are the specialist plant eaters, wheras your guys are more variable, in that they can also eat carrion, and have the social advantage.

Thanks for the praise :D Though i must say im not too happy with the rendered backdrop style. Im thinking of going back to the 'old-skool' graphics, but this time actually doing everything in Flash, including the backgrounds etc. I didn't do that to start with because of various issues (the version of flash i have seems a bit buggy when it comes to outputting a .JPG or .PNG) but i think i could make it work now.

You would be very welcome to participate, it only takes a couple of lines to post a new species thing, whether or not you come back to watch its progress is up to you :)

Shellster Planktovorapod: tuxedohamm
Evolved from: Shellster Flutuapod
Genes (12): Drifting x2, Plankton Eating x5, Spikes x1, Shell x2, Tentacle x1, Smelling x1
Description : Only the strongest survive, and for the Shellster Flutuapods that meant only those that could get the most out of the plankton they ate. This meant that by the end of the mass extiction, a new species had developed that could filter out even harder to aquire plankton.

-->

Evolution Template: Shellster Olfactopod
(new species name) : tuxedohamm
Evolved from: Shellster Planktovorapod
Gene added (max 2): Plankton Eating x1, Smelling x1
Gene removed (optional, max 2):
Description (optional): Improved filtering and increased smelling allow the Olfactopod detect better feeding areas and catch all the plankton it can.

I like the background. Deep ocean looks great.

EDIT: I'm going to evolve this later. This turn, the Venatoryte will rise to prominence instead.

Spoiler :
Respiryte: Lord_Iggy
Evolved from: Geluryte
Genes (13): Crawling x2, Digging x1, Eating Dead Things x1, Plant Eating x1, Complex Stomach x1, Exoskeleton x1, Communal Behaviour x1, Claws x2, Water Retention x1, Lungs x1, Cold Resistance x1
Description: Firstly, their primitive 'aqualungs' (primitive land-gills which need to be kept damp) have developed into full-fledged air-breathing lungs, secondly, their primitive digestive system has advanced from a simple tube plan to a multi-stage system, with a stomach for breaking down the toughest edible materials, and a long tract for nutrient absorption, and thirdly, they have developed powerful claws at the ends of their scuttling legs- very useful for digging, but valuable for fighting off predators and rivals as well.

Evolves to...

Cavoryte : Lord_Iggy
Evolved from: Respiryte
Gene added (max 2+1): Heat Sense, Communal Behaviour, Digging
Gene removed (optional, max 2): None
Description (optional): The Respirytes have become further specialized in their communal subterranean existance, now sending parties aboveground only to search for food. These 'Cavorytes' have developed a useful sense from the development of heat-sensitive pits on the sides of their mouths. They have grown smaller, and thinner in order to be better adapted for moving through their long, cramped tunnels. Finally, a caste system has begun to form, with some specimens being specialized for digging, others for foraging, and others still for the defense of the colony.

Well i might!!!
How do i have to start?
What do i have to do?

I'll take a quick look on the first page!

the garbage-eater: The loser
Genes: Mass Reproduction + Eating Dead Things
description: The garbage-eater is one of the chains in the circel of life.
It lives wherever fish, plants or other life dies. It eats these remains and extracts minerals from them.

=> i hope there aren't any creatures like this, I had no time to check them all out.

that was fine tL. but next time, there is a template in the first page :)

I assume for daft that you evolve from plankton?
