Perhaps Haida or another civ from the Pacific Northwest for round two? I'd say it should wait until the forum is a bit less overrun with elimination threads, though.
Well, we would just be using the same thread, of course.
I think the next few days should be used for ruminating on who to include. After we've got plenty of recommendations, I'll assemble another list and we could start the next round in May. If we have enough suggestions, we could even potentially do a Round 3.
Ashanti first, I hope developers look at this topic, maybe they think of adding the best rated civs
My suggestions for the next round: The Arawak, Inuit, Olmecs, Tupi, Mapuche, Canada, Gran Colombia, Argentina, Maori, Madagascar, Benin Empire, Navajo, Afghans, Timurids, the Czech, Romania, Belgium, Bulgaria, Scotland, Nepal , Mamluks and Berbers
As a point of clarification, we might want to set some ground rules about candidates having a known language that can be spoken in game, plus at least one leader whose name is known, as well as enough named settlements to form a city list.
Never fear, I'm planning to balance the Round 2 selection across the different world regions (Europe, Americas, Africa, Near East Asia and Far East Asia).
The Tlingit/Haida were a surprising omission from the first round. Add mine for another voice for Gaul. I think Georgia might gain more traction than Armenia (at least it got top five...) thanks to King Tamar. I'd suggest the Creek/Muscogee, as well as the Cree.
What about the Elamites, led by Shutruk-Nakhkhunte?
Also the Tuareg, led by Tin Hinan, since Firaxis is always looking for opportunities for prominent female leaders...
We've already received quite a few suggestions throughout this thread, plus various ideas throughout this forum.
I've tried to synthesize these into a workable list, trying to utilize at least 1-2 suggestions from each person.
Here's my preliminary Round Two list. It's not set in stone yet, but I wanted to post it and get your input. If your favorite still isn't on this list, there's still always Round 3, if enough people are open to it.
Note: there's two Benins because the medieval Benin Empire is not the same as modern Benin (formerly Dahomey).

Timurids/Khazars/Other Central Asia
Nice list @The Kingmaker! I'd like to suggest the Khazars as a central Asian civ focussed on trade (and maybe even incorporating the conversion of the rulers to Judaism) for once, rather than horse archers and conquest .
This is true. They'd have to speak the funky Mycenaean Greek deciphered from Linear B, which is suboptimal. Still, it's better than the Olmecs, for whom we have nothing at all. (They didn't make the cut for that reason.)
Benin/Dahomey is called what it is to avoid confusion, since it does happen to be the current country that bears the name.
I want to make sure people don't conflate the Benin Empire with the unrelated modern state.
Ashanti winning certainly makes me happy. Overall, looks like a good list. Someone needs to take the European nations away from Ed Beach for the rest of this game's development.
I would love Harrapan (the Indus Valley Civ) to be in the game. They could be a great trade Civ. And since the developers have made clear they're willing to go with semi-mythological leaders (Dido for Carthage, Gilgamesh for Sumeria), they could always consult experts on pulling a name from one of the official seals or coinage. Or see if the experts refer to any of the humans on the coin by any name (IIRC, there's a seal with a man and a tiger that is suspected to be a ruling figure).
Not sure if this suggestion will be any bit popular. But Nanzhao? I always need me some more Sinosphere nations. And there was a lot of Nations in and around China that had their own distinct cultures and identities in the past.
