Just a question, anyone have crazy neigbors who go all out for 4th of July, extreme firework display or is anyone here the crazy neigbor who does the crazy all out display?

i have a nieghbor who ALWAYS buys illegal fireworks and shoots them off. but he is friends with ALL the cops and therefor is never busted. it gets very annoying too (coming home from fireworks and trying to sleep only to hear him blasting them off)

Only in certain communities. They're illegal in Hermosa Beach too, but despite that every 15 minutes or so I hear a firecracker go off.

Nobody said:
are fireworks illegal??

It's illegal to shoot off fireworks in most metropolitan areas. It's also illegal to sell them up untill about 2 weeks before the fourth of july in most places.

Most people ignore the laws though. The police can't do anything about it.

I have heard two inidences where fireworks were going off, one happened last night and the other happened today.

Heard them for several hours here. They stopped ironically just about when it actually started being July 4th...

All my neigbors are wackos and have had them steadily going for the past five days starting at 3 or 4 and ending between 12 and 1 AM. Also every year they get progressively longer louder and more days, non stop. lol

I used to be the annoying neighbor who set off fireworks all the time. My family use to get upwards of $400 of fireworks and set them off. We don’t do that anymore, we grew out of that phase. We always bought after the 4th, so $400 is more like 500 – 600 before.

Here is some 4th of July stats for you guys:

Amount Americans spend on 4th of July:
2.3 Billion

Number of Americans expected to watch a live fireworks demostration:
78 million

Number of Americans expected to attend a 4th of July parade:
17 million

Amount Americans will spend on Hot Dogs (and amount of hot dogs bought):
116 million (150 million hot dogs)

Amount spent on hot dog condaments (ketchup, relish, etc.)
112 million

Amount spent on hot dog buns:
38 million

Amount spent on fuel for cooking:
88 million

Amount spent on beer:
214 million

Amount spent on fireworks:
840 million

Of course ... how can celebrate the independence of your country without blowing up a small part of something.

You should at least give credit where it belongs.

If you didn’t get it from Simpsons sorry.

I live down the street from a policeman. Every 4th of July, he uses up all of the fireworks that he confiscated from kids in the previous year.

It's more than some small cities have for their public fireworks shows.

I beleve it was from the Simpsons, Apu said that to Homer ;)

I knew it was from the Simpsons it’s just that he said it different enough I gave him the benefit of the doubt. I would be a horrible English teacher.

I find it annoying when people still set off fireworks well after established quiet hours. Haven't had to worry about that for a few years.

116 million (150 million hot dogs)
