Yes. My notebook computer can easily fit through the big window in my room.

GVBN - What does that do?

I don't know why you wouldn't trust a computer you couldn't throw out a window anymore than you would trust one you could. All computers do the same thing the only difference is the speed in which they can do them. and since the backbone of the internet is supported by huge super computers it's safe to say you're trusting one right now.

Have you seen 2001: A Space Odyssey?

No I haven't

It's a long movie... Very shortly said it's about a trip to Jupiter where a computer runs all of the functions on the shuttle. And it goes gaga and kills 5 or such of the 6 people, leaving the last to finally beat it.

Then he flies into a black hole or such, some colours etc. It's a philosophical movie.

But to say it shortly: The computer could not be deactivated very easily. It was difficult to find and it controlled the ship machinery = it could also technically close the doors in the ship, disabling the hero to go anywhere, not deactivating the computer, and die.

That's somehow what the sentence says. Don't trust a computer you can't turn off.

This topic brings me back good memories of how I got rid of a pile of old DEC kit from a second floor a few years ago - BOFH style :D

(through the parking lot was empty)

Besides I can fix my computer by myself so if it acts up I'll tinker with it. :D

Mine just keeps on calling me Professor Falkins and wants to play Global Thermonuclear War.....

Seriously though, Yes I can throw my computer out my window. For the phrase, I'd never trust a computer I couldn't shut off fairly easily if it was overlooking something real important. Sentient robots/computers like Data would be fine as long as they couldn't nuke the world or w/e.

I would have to bring my computer upstairs to throw it out the window, since I'm in the basement right now.

I probably would, so I would get a new free computer.

I've hit it with hockey sticks before.. heh

I've also slammed the keyboard hard enough to break my desk rofl

well the moral of that story is don't put your life in the hands of an untested program

dont trust a computer you cant fitin your pocket is more appropriate tough.

I could, but it might land on anyone entering or exiting the apartment building. So I'd have to time it correctly to make sure I get the right people. :p

But I've got no reason to toss either the desktop or the laptop.

it'd be the ultimate demonstration of my physical strength

Uh the process of throwing it out my window would require a bit of time as my current computer is exposed with lots of external hardware connected all over the place, be it external hard drives, cd drives, a drives, usb ports, one of those old apple drives two different keyboards and three monitors, not to mention the 20 speakers and 4 subs hooked to it, I believe it would require to throw all that out the window.
