New DLC at August: Korea ()

I think it makes sense that they would announce it to the Korean language speakers before everyone else. Give them a sense of being special.
It's also good marketing. Nobody is going to care more about the addition of Korea than Koreans, I would think.
I'm glad we're getting them.

It smells fishy to me, first post the op makes and it takes us to a website that is not coded anywhere remotely the same as the official website. Plus the names, who makes the posts. I am scanning my computer for a virus, this looks hella fake.

just like how starcraft 2 was annouced in korea remember :mischief:

Yeah, but this isn't Starcraft 2...

I'm skeptical right now. If anything, I'm guessing that the Korean version is getting a DLC that's already out elsewhere, but we'll see soon enough. I'm guessing there'll be one within the next month so we'll probably find out at some point in the near future.

my point was, they might be announcing it in korea for marketing reasons like other companies have.

no, they aren't that sophisticated.

Their primary market is still North America, so this makes zero sense for marketing. Even if they do something special for the Korean market, they wouldn't ignore the rest.

By the way all:

This is the same site as last time. The 2nd 'news' link is the exact one from the previous time. (that it was discussed here)

I worry that this isn't even the official website. The 'forum' links go to a non-2K forum. The 'news'/'information'/etc TITLES are still in English. Even for the Japanese site they translated it.

Finally, it's not in the list of official language sites on the main civilization.com website. Even the civ5.jp is linked in there.

I have a feeling this is just a fan site that stole all of the 2K stuff, but 2K isn't too concerned as they don't have one of their own.

This DLC information haven't yet been made public.

The online event is now under way in Korea.
Online event: "Who is a suitable leader of Korean civilization?"

Ah, finally a new DLC Civ!(?)
Korea was expected. I truly hope we'll get new dlc a bit faster rate for now on. I mean only 3 new civs in eight monts this year. Every other month would be much better, so that would give at least 6 new civs per year :)

Very interesting leader choices. I would like to see one of these being chosen; 2.Gwanggaeto the Great, 3.Queen Seondeok or 5.Sejong the Great. Always fan of female leaders and never heard of Queen Seondok before, so she would be very interesting choice... Though would she remind Wu Zetian too much?

Yeah. It's getting annoying. Hopefully they'll just come out and announce them.

Yeah, why the secrecy on dlc's? They should just tell what releases they are planning for this year. Roughly 5 month left. Does that mean we'll only get one dlc civ after Korea?

Running the news post of 19 July through Google translate reads:
Who is the greatest ruler of Republic of Korea?

So essentially it's just a tease that a Korean DLC will be coming at some point, and inviting people to vote for their favourite leader at another 3rd party site.

The previous message from 5 April through Google Translate reads:
Republic of Korea leads the world make the conquered!

Strategy simulation game that's bigger than a masterpiece, considered the leading teonje strategy game Sid Meier's Civilization V (Sid Meier's Civilization ® V) 'last March 29 the official Hangul Pack* to the public ear,' Republic of Korea culture (Korea Civilization) 'DLC (Downloadable Content) equipped to embark in earnest in South Korea is expected to enlarge the fan.

The "Hangul Pack" is a translation of Civilization into the Korean alphabet, which was released on 29 March.

It seems to me this Hangul Pack (translation of Civ5 into Korean alphabet) is a separate development that is not distributed through the standard steam distribution. It could be either a pack on top of the standard Civ5 distribution, or a port into Korean that is maintained separately.

Given the enthusiastic and competitive gaming market in Korea, I can imagine two scenarios for this fabled Korean DLC:
 1. A Korean Civ will be added to Civ5 standard release some time.
 2. One or more Korean leaders are added exclusively for the korean market to this separate Hangul Pack.
It's likely to assume that a Korean civ is in the making. Perhaps they asked the Korean developers for assistance and they spilled the beans onto the Korean forum for local marketing reasons.

First off, thanks to Google Translate, the title is:

Finally emerges - Civilization V Korea DLC will be released and Events

Now, from what I can tell by my non-existant understanding of Korean, is Washington and Uncle Sam have been mixed up. Then, scrolling down, it has some stuff about Duke Nukem Forever, then Civ 5 and what looks like the map pack pieces of paper from preorder, including one with a Korean icon. Finally, the bottom of the image has five Korean leaders. Underneath, is some text which makes no sence whatsoever when translated:

Finally made it, kid. ㅎㅎㅎ
When it pilguipnida DLC. Since last year, so far this year, most in one game, now that summer was this civilization civilization 'asked to, he's cute.

But, then below that is a link to a poll, presumably for the next leader. However you need to login.

everything seems so weird.

It looks like they're doing a poll to choose Korean Civ's leader, but that means

the civ developers didn't even confirm who's gonna be the leader.

And yet it says the Korean Civ. DLC will be out in this summer.

Now is that possible? You wouldn't call September 'Summer', so all devs' got is about more than a month's time. Can they make 3d graphics for the leader, cast a voice-actor, and decide which appropriate trait the civ shall have in one month?

Besides, has 2k ever asked general users about their hopes for new civ's leader before?

I don't remember them doing a poll to Danish people or Spanish people.
