New DLC at August: Korea ()

Taegukgi might work, I remember a popular South Korean movie with that name.

Regardless, I guess we'll find out when it's released. They really didn't give us many hints at all about the Korean civ. :( I dislike how Firaxis releases all this info 1) very late and 2) all the info at once. Why not leak info slowly? Sadly the hope of future DLCs and much better patches are all I'm really interested in regarding Civ 5.

The gameplay is too bad for me to play it often these days. All the AI backstab you whenever your army is less strong than theirs, no matter how friendly you've been towards them. It'll be funny to see Queen Seondeok/King Sejong/whoever the Korean leader turns out to be backstabbing you a lot. Korean kings in that poll list *generally* didn't backstab much at all. If Korea does turn out to be cultural/scientific and defensive in nature, it'd be odd to see a truly aggressive AI with the Korean leader's face. Just...bizarre, like Gandhi declaring war on you over and over again. =|

I'm not a huge fan of Korean movies in general (the Busan film festival had some good ones though) but Taegukgi was very good in my opinion. :)

I agree with you on the Civilization 5 AI and general psychopathic diplomatic behaviour.
One thing Korea has not been noted for (for the most part) over the last 1000 years is aggressive behaviour towards their neighbours and other countries. A warmongering, nuke happy King Sejong would seem a little strange. The Kim clan to the North however would fit the AI diplomatic model perfectly. Sadly no one got the joke.

Well, you know they are doing event in Korea, "Who will be the next leader of Korea?" If Firaxis releases any info on Korea DLC, people will surely find out who will be the next Korean leader, so this event will be useless. The fact that it says on official Korean Civ site saying Korea DLC will be available this summer is good enough for me. :)

This is an image from Upgrade1Textures.fpk file updated with patch .332. It will be shown in Main Menu with link to a DLC Steam page. The File name is quite self-explanatory: awonders_korea_available_background_102h.jpg )

And I suppose, Korean leader is Sejong the Great.

Wel, that's pretty telling isn't it.

Very cool. It's weird they haven't announced anything yet, especially with things leaking.

When's the Korean competition end? They might want to delay until then.

Bah, that's a long time. Everything will be virtually known by that point (except the stats, I'd imagine).

That is Sejong the great, good find! Cant wait... :goodjob:

I'd say Gwanggaeto the Great is probably the most deserving, but his accomplishments were mostly martial in nature. Since there's a very good chance they will choose a cultural flavor for the Korean civ, Sejong the Great might be more appropriate, but truthfully either of them would make for a fantastic choice.

This would make sense. Gwanggaeto is popular here. He's already used in a line of Lego compatible toys here.

As for a unique civ ability, I would expect it would have something to do with production. There is no "hurry production" it seems in Civ 5, but a big aspect of Korean culture is getting things done fast, so I would expect to see some kind of production boost, not sure what kind exactly though.
