New DLC at August: Korea ()

I believe someone already pointed out that they are the publisher in this region.

I think they're a distributor (epicsoft). So the information they have is probably accurate, but it's not the same thing as an official announcement; that would still come direct from 2K.

WOOT Sejong! I am very relieved. I was afraid they'd pick Queen Seodeok because she's female (she wasn't a terrible queen, but she wasn't as popular a ruler as Sejong, or as important nationally, imo). Two DLC at one time seems...interesting. A bit risky, but maybe it'll heighten interest. Having only one new DLC available at a time was a bit meh.

Hittites and Sumer for the Ancient World civs, please. But I'm also hoping Assyrians are represented somehow. =)

Two separate DLC, but visually presented together in the ad banner on the main page where ads for DLC normally are (right now it's an ad for Civ World).

It's a bunch of clues. This image file was found in the packed assets after the latest patch, and it has a picture of the three missing wonders of the seven ancient wonders, as well as Sejong. Further, the text files make references to a DLC pack 6, a hittite, assyrian, and sumerian civ, and there are lines in the gameplay XML for there to be Mausoleum, Statue of Zeus, and an Artemis Temple.

Also, long time ago a mysterious german poster claiming inside knowledge (I know, sounds weird, huh?) Claimed the next DLCs would be, in order: Spain and Inca, Polynesia, the Danes, Korea, and the Wonders of the Ancient World. People laughed at this, but then the next packs were Spain and Inca, then Polynesia (which had seemed unlikely) then Danes (which was definitely a million-to-one guess if it were, that it would be the "Danes" when they were Vikings or Scandinavia in the past Civ games). So we think the German knew what was up, in that case the next two DLCs are Korea and then Wonders of the Ancient World.

Finally, the Korean Civ5 affiliate has a contest "guess the leader of Korea" running through the first week of August. 30 unnamed achievements have been released onto Steam, which always happens right before a DLC announcment but 30 is more than one DLC usually requires.

So this is not "confirmed" but a lot of things make it seem extremely obvious.

I think you've summarized a whole lot of bickering in other threads about what the next DLC should be. Kudos to you:goodjob:

am i having deja vu, or is this the exact same thing that happened when everybody kept saying it was going to be korea when we got denmark instead?
also, when and where did this mysterious german guy say this stuff, anyway? i'm assuming the_j posted the link here before, but i don't remember actually seeing it.

I've posted the link a few times as well. On my phone now, but his name is sonething like Trineas, the forum sonething like Civforum.de and the topic sonething like kunftige DLC. Google and you'll probably find it.
Mind you, I'm doing this from memory, so I might have made some mistakes with the names.

This is the first I've heard someone mention Assyria. Are you sure about that? Of course, if that's the case, there certainly won't be three civs added on one side (and one on the other). I'm thinking a 1066-type scenario with some cool splash screen leaders.

Don't get me wrong, I'd love Assyria. I just don't think there's enough diversity for Assyria, Sumeria, and Hatti. If they add one, it would likely be Sumeria, which has been in the last two games (although, please, no Gilgamesh this time).

That's the question, isn't it? It appears that winning with Sumeria, Assyria, or Hittites is a steam achievement, but then so is winning as the Maori ... and the achievement only refers to the Scenario. It is quite possible that NONE of the civs of the wonders of the ancient world will be a new civ for purposes of the main game, and yet if I was betting I'd say Hittites who have had a lot of recent discoveries talking about their importance in the last two years (youtube "ancient mysteries" and "hittites" for an excellent five-minute video, and History had a huge presentation on the Hittites as the crossroads of the world, lost in time), and Sumer which has been in every civ game and the "first" civ.

One thing is for certain. If the Hitties and Sumer are NOT civs available outside of the scenario there will be an uproar
I certainly wouldn't buy DLC that didn't include at least one new civilization.

all right, thanks. found it.

and google chrome translated it for me: How would you actually like civilizations, I say now just ... Polynesia , Denmark and Korea fell as the next DLC? One could at least discuss the exact times, so maybe they come soon!
Yes, exactly, and further on in the topic he also talks about WOTAW and Korea.
The dates are interesting too, the first post is from 11th of january and the second from 25th of may.

I'm quite certain that the Hittites and such are only in the scenario.
If they'd be in the main game then the achievement wouldn't be called a scenario-win ( ACHIEVEMENT_SCENARIO_06_WIN_HITTITES) and secondly all the civs in the main game have two achievements. The first to win the game with the civ on any difficulty setting and the second to do something that's specific to the civ (for instance "As Darius, start 5 Golden Ages in a single game.", "Build a road with a Roman Legion." or "As Bismarck, convert the Barbarians from 10 camps to your side.").
The other scenarios also have scenario-specific civ win-achievements (for instance "Win as Anglo-Saxon England" or "Win as Tahiti" (the Maori, like you said, aren't in that scenario as a civ. But I we know what you mean)).
Especially the lack of the second civ-specific achievement makes me think they're in the scenario only.

I still think the missing achievements are for a Korean scenario.
ESpecially since the known achievements are for scenario 6, so scenario 5 is 'missing'.
It could be that the Korean scenario is scenario 5.

Also interesting is that the two 'normal' achievements for Korea aren't seen yet (the win as-achievement and the use civ-specific thing-achievement).

But standard for a DLC is 11 - 13. 15 is a lot, and as such is only for large DLC. Even Spain and Inca only had 13, the other 7 were for Mongol Scenario
