Inspired by the Star Trek thread.

The new season of Family Guy, perhaps the only show funnier than the Simpsons, is scheduled to begin in January 2005. If there are any other Family Guy fans around here, what were your favorite episodes?

And if anyone wants to debate the Simpsons v. Family Guy issue with me, feel free!

WHAT! Jan 2005! That's criminal!

Family Guy is more random, but less political. I think the best Simpsons episodes are better than the best Family Guy episodes, but there are more good Family Guy episodes than good Simpsons episodes. I've never seen a bad Family Guy episode, but there are plenty of boring Simpsons episodes.

I'll agree that my top two Simpsons episodes rate above any Family Guy episode, but Family Guy as a whole I think is a better show, because it goes the places where the Simpsons' producers won't let their writers go.

Why is Jan 2005 criminal? Because we have to wait so long, or because you'd rather not see it? I think it's worth the wait. The series was cancelled after all, and how many TV shows get the chance to come back after that?

Are they going to have the same writers, voice actors, animators, etc.?

Remember what happened to "All in the Family" after the Meathead and Gloria left. *imitates commercial jet rapidly descending into ocean*

I think everything is supposed to remain the same. The writers ARE the voice actors, so changing that would be sacreligious IMO. I don't think it could be done.

Yeah no kidding; I'm just glad it's coming back at all. I wonder how much the dvd sales were a factor in that. Family Guy is a great series though. I'm having a hard time thinking up episodes while at work, but the Y2K one where Peter winds up becoming the worst mayor ever was pretty hilarious. New episodes can't arrive soon enough!

I want it NOW NOW NOW! Though it most definitely will be worth the wait. I can't even put my finger on the best family guy episode, only the best scenes/sketches. It's just such a random show! I mean, the later Simpsons episodes have got very very random, but Family Guy is very offensive, like South Park, only in a more subtle and intelligent way. I hope the writers don't run out of things to write about.

I find the "dynamics" of the Griffin family more interesting than the Simpson family. But it's more fun to watch Homer do stupid stuff than Peter. They should both get rid of their babies though...

Yeah that's one of my ten best. There's no real Twinky factory in Natick unfortunately.

Actually, in reference to my previous post, I think the majority of the voice talent will remain the same, the only changes I know of so far are things like possibly no more Adam West as the mayor of Quohog.

He's just boring. They should stick with the grown ups and the dog. I just don't think stewie adds anything to the show. Doubt they'll kill him off though anyway...

Will these new episodes be produced by Fox or another channel? Isn't the show running at night on the Cartoon Network now?
(And the show wouldn't be the same without Stewie!)

Family Guy is such a great show. I watched an episode last night. The one were Peter knocks over the satellite dish and Stewie tries to destroy Broccoli.

I think it's Comedy Central or Cartoon Network. Either way, I'm getting cable for that reason alone.

My favorite episode is when Peter becomes a feminist and tries to breast feed stewie.

Stewie is the show!

I love the show. I've been downloading old episodes but I'll consider buying the DVD now. All the episodes are fantastic but some stand out. I liked the one in which Peter gets a Jew to fix his credit (very politically incorrect but funny).

Definately buy the DVDs... they're completely worth it. The extra features and commentary are almost as good as the episodes themselves... The "When you Wish upon a Weinstein" episode was actually never aired.

I believe their actually going to expand Adam West's role.

FOX, which will most likely broadcast them along with the Cartoon Network.

I've known about this for awhile (my best friend's dad is the show's sound editor) and I can't wait for the new season, especially because I usually see new episodes before they air through my friend. I think the unaired Jew episode is my favorite, you can thank some friends of mine for releasing it online.
