[R&F] New Features Video

I guess if it is Polynesia led by Dwayne Johnson, what can we say except you're welcome? :mischief: I mean, we already have Moana in the game. :p
Actually...that would be awesome!

Judging from the comments here regarding emergencies, is it possible they intended it for MP?

I think they did it to keep the human player from running away from the AI. On which note, I foresee this getting annoying fast. :coffee: Here's hoping the AI is bad at it...

I think it works both ways. For playing against human players running away, this could be quite cool, actually. Take this emergency with converting other religion holy city. In vanilla, religious victory is kind of slow step-by-step pressure with flow of missionaores and apostles. In R&F, after you convert a holy city, you'll face a significant retaliation. And you need to plan ahead - i.e. starting inquisition to repel them. Not sure about other emergencies.

The same goes for AI runaway - another "quest" part of the game for human players.

Was it just me or was anyone else diasspointed with the video?

I mean 5:43. I thought that it would be an actual ‘detailed’ video.

It would be quite strange to see more detailed video on youtube channel. It's made for broad audience, who don't know about the expansion details yet and don't want to watch video of 10 minutes or longer.

For further details we need to ask questions on the next stream - that's the reveal channel made for fans.

So if the last three civs are Zulu, Mapuche, and Scotland and Pike and Shot is a new unit... which of those has the best chance at having a unique Pike and Shot?

I think it might actually be the Zulu. The Impi replaced the Pikeman in V, after all. If the Impi in VI gets some sort of ranged attack like in V, I guess that would cover the "shot" part of Pike and Shot.

Mapuche is still a speculation (could be Inca). Scotland could be named Celts.

I don't think any of new civs have unique Pike and Shot unit. Zulu and Mapuche/Inca never reached this technological level while being a separate entity. Scotland is possible (some Cleymore-wielding highlanders), but I don't consider it likely.

Yeah, none of those fit the Pike and Shot. What they should do is use the Conquistador model to make a Tercio UU for Philip, or even flat out replace the Conquistador with a Tercio (same special abilities would be fine).

Conquistadors are even more iconic than Tercio, so no need in this. We could see Portugues Terco, though, once Portugal is in.

I saw Hong Kong.

Ehm, wise one...Hong Kong was a vanilla Civ VI city state, no? It's definitely been in the game for a long time, if not from the start.

Looked it up, it was indeed a vanilla city state.

Im quite afraid the following will happen (as an example):
Gandhi (AI) drops the bomb.
China (Human player), France (AI) and The Netherlands (AI) get a message to do something about it.
China rushes in with an army to stop Gandhi, France and The Netherlands muck around a bit. China fails to do enough in time. All don't get the reward.

With the AI the way it is, I just can't see them doing enough, in a certain amount of turns...

Take a look at the description of Sky and Stars:

"Unlocks the Eurekas for..."

Unless they changed the wording from triggers to unlocks, it may seem that Eurekas and Inspirations may be "locked" under some circumstances...

That's the terminology they've always used for eurekas. Also, most if not all of the eureka's for those techs were previously granted only through great people or espionage.

I'm not certain, but Hong Kong might have been a city state that hadn't been seen yet. This would confirm it's still a city-state, though a civ for Hong Kong would be incredibly unlikely.

The question Eagle Pursuit responded to was whether someone spotted new city states. His responses was Hong Kong. Hong Kong is -not- a new city state. It's been in the game since its initial release.

Someone suggested Guarani's Sepé Tiraju as the mystery leader. Judge for thyselves.

bite meant "new" as in a city state we haven't seen before. We know there aren't any city states added except to replace ones that became civs, so spotting city states (either new ones or ones that already existed in the base game) gives us hints towards which civs are likely or not. For example, spotting Palenque made people rule the Maya out.

I don't think EP would leave it at "I saw Hong Kong" if he thought it was new. He'd be trying to figure out which city state it would replace.

Understandable. I'm still struggling with the phrasing of "new" then though : ) So when Bite said "new" (we haven't seen before) it equals "We haven't seen in any video or livestream since the announcement of R&F"?
Guess I would have phrased it differently : )

It's possible, however in the picture it appears that the new leader has a cape, if you look closely at his neck. That would more strongly suggest that it could be Lautaro of the Mapuche, due to what these two cultures were know to traditionally wear. That being said, it's no guarantee. Thank you for sharing!

Yeah, that's basically what he meant, and I guess it's clear only to those who are very involved. :)

I meant City States not spotted in R&F yet, thus if they appear then we can remove some civ candidates, though that seams a bit moot at the moment
