Canada (Greatest Country Ever!!!!!)
The year is 2030. Along with the United States, Russia and Europe, the
new great powers China, India and Brazil have appeared on the horizon, in
order to participate in the global race for power and influence. But ultimately,
these six states are only puppets in a treacherous game, because their fates are
controlled by powerful international investors operating in the background.
Each player takes on the role of such an investor who is on the constant lookout
for the maximum return on his investment, and therefore tries to obtain
a ruthless control of individual great powers. But his control of a state may
also slip away, so that changes constantly occur, and new strategic constellations
and conflicts arise.
Imperial 2030 for two to six players combines economic calculus and military
skills to a unique strategy game without any luck of dice or cards.

Ever played the board game Imperial or Imperial 2030?
As the competition at home has gotten soft (I have won 7 out of the last 9 games, falling 1 point shy in one of them, and 20 points in the other). I am hoping that the Civilization community will give me more of a challenge (as it definitely will, knowing some of the people on here). We will use the Imperial 2030 map (the more balanced map imo, but that could be because I've only played it twice, and the other I have played multiple times and found a near invincible strategy for Germany)
We will need 6 players (including myself) to play.

edit HERE ARE THE RULES
Basically, as the description suggested, you are a rich investor trying to make money out of a global crisis that is on the verge of a world war. Your object is to make a profit out of this war. As a multi-billionaire, you invest into the countries stock trying to make a profit off them. The more you have invested into the country, the more you influence it. (In other words, if you are the primary investor, you (temporarily) own the country in game).
Please note, the terms that I will use are Government money and Treasury. The government money is the owner of the countries cash. The Treasury is the Treasury of the country.

You make money when the stocks increase in value.

Each investor begins with 13 billion, and bids on the individual countries. You can only bid in one stock in each country.

Each country is has 9 stocks valued at a certain amount.
#1. Valued 2 billion
#2. Valued at 4 billion
#3. 6 billion
#4. 9 billion
#5. 12 billion
#6. 16 billion
#7. 20 billion
#8. 25 billion
#9. 30 billion

Who ever has the most money invested in the country, temporarily owns the country. Remember you probably wont own a country for the entire game. The game starts with Russia's turn. The government decides what the country is doing, they have 6 options. They mark what they are doing on the rondel. If 2 people tie for control of the country, then whoever achieved that amount first, is the government of the country.
Factory, Production, Manoeuvre, Investor, Import (then a repeat of Production and Manoeuvre) and taxation
Check the rules on page 6 to see the rondel. To see the order of tiles on the rondel. You move around the rondel in clockwise rotation, and can choose between the next 3 choices. So for example, if on Taxation, you could move to Factory, Production or Maneuver. Each space on the rondel does something different.
Factory: Your government spends $5 billion on building a factory. A factory can produce units, and provides a taxation bonus to the territory. You can only build naval factories in territories marked with a blue fleet symbol, and armies with a brown army symbol.
Production: As the name suggests, each factory produces 1 army if it is a land factory, or 1 fleet if it is a naval. Pretty straight forward.
Manoeuvre: Starting with the fleets each army can move into any adjacent Land Territory, Each Fleet can move to any adjacent sea. After the fleets have moved, they have the option to convoy land units. The convoy rules work the same as Diplomacy. You can move into foreign lands peacefully (with their consent) or you can choose to attack them. Battles work 1:1 (no dice=no luck). So if you have 5 armies and the enemy has 3, you both loose 3 armies. If you take a territory, you claim it as your own, and can tax it. However you can’t tax enemy home territories (the lands the 5 other powers start off with), you just prevent them from taxing. It costs 3 armies to destroy a factory. The two regions on the map (North Africa and Colombia) have canals running through them (Panama and Suez) this means fleets can pass through them (and convoys). This means you can move strait from the Mediterranean to the Indian. Lastly there are train tracks, this means you can travel instantly across you home borders (the original borders) However if there is an enemy army in one of you territories (Example, the Americans can move strait from New York, to Mexico. Using the train doesn’t count as you move), the train lines are disrupted and you can’t use them.
Investor: First the treasury pays off the interest of each of the investors in the country. Each stock gives a different interest.
The 2 gives 1 billion
The 4 gives 2 billion
The 6 gives 3 billion
The 9 gives 4 billion
The 12 gives 5 billion
Etc (you guys see the pattern right)
If the treasury has insufficient funds to pay out, then the government has to pay what the treasury doesn’t. If you can’t afford it, then you have no reason to land on investor, so don’t.
Then the government (player with the most invested in the country) gets to invest in any stock they want. They can buy as many stocks as they want. You can also choose to upgrade a stock, so say you have the 9, you can pay 3 billion for the 12. You cannot sell stocks.
Then the investor (the current owner of the investor card) receives 2 billion from the bank, and can invest in 1 stock only
At the end of the Investor turn, a check is made to see if there will be any changes of government. In this context, the sum of all bonds of a player in the pertinent nation will determine the government of that nation. If, due to the allocation of bonds, a new player has achieved the highest credit sum (a tie is not sufficient), he takes over the government of that nation.
Then anyone who doesn’t own a country gets to invest. Line the investor they can invest in one stock only. If they have a Swiss bank card (hasn’t owned a government for more than a round) then they receive 2 million as well.
Import: The treasury pays 1million to import soldier, to a maximum of 3. Fleets have to go into a naval factory, but armies can go in any home province.
Taxation: First you count how much money the country makes. Each territory (including seas) is worth 1 point, 2 points if a factory is in it.
If it adds up to 0-5: nothing happens
If it adds up to 6-7: the countries score goes up by 1
If it adds up to 8-9: the countries score goes up by 2
If it adds up to 10: goes up by 3
11: +4
12: +5
13: +6
14: +7
15: +8
16-17: +9
18+: +10
As soon as a country gets to 25, the game ends.
Then subtract 1 point for every army and navy unit. This is how much money the country gets from tax.
You also get a bonus, dived the score by 2 rounded up.
Each countries score is divided by 5 (rounded down, so 24 becomes 4, 2 becomes 0) that is the value of a stock. If the countries’ value is 5, and you and 34 billion in it, your score for that country is 170 billion. You add up your score, and whoever has the most money wins.

Any questions?

Why do you always start threads with "New Forum Game:"?
If it is a new forum game then I am stating the facts. Also it make the title seem more interesting and makes people more likely to check it out.
Why do you refuse to properly use bbcode?
??? what am I doing wrong???
Why do you love walls of text?
Why wouldn't use love walls of text?

You don't call a country. Its decided by bidding. Each player starts off with $13 billion (the rules say million, but billion is more realistic considering your buying countries) and bids on each country. The person who bids the most starts off with that country. I suggest you read the rules before you play.

Actually Trillion is more realistic:lol: Bill Gates has 60 billion and he won't be buying the USA:p

Maybe a Global Economic Crisis... Having 6 people being trillionares is not possible.
With 60 billion you could pay every US voter $1000 to vote for you. So who no's you may be able to buy the country.

Oh I know:, however with the way Obama's running the country inflation will be so bad that it will take a trillion dollars to buy a cheeseburger (Exaggeration.)

True even though that's illegal. However, its just a game anyhow. Realistically one man cannot truly buy the country (A lot of people would refuse the bribe and its illegal.) But I guess its POSSIBLE. Its a stretch though.

If I ever get rich I am so buying Canada though. Capitalists, unite!

This is the sign up forum. We play as soon as I have 6 people interested, and I find a map that we can use.
@WIM: You wont get Brazil, I get Brazil (not just to spite you, but (for some reason) they are the most rigged country in the game)
If you have interest in playing, download the pdf file, read the rules then state interest. This is a legit board game and is the third most complicated board game I know of, so I suggest you read the rules, before stating interest.

I agree with kill fire.

I just added a summary of the rules, if I made anything unclear, feel free to ask. I also decided that I will GM this game, and not play (simply because I realized the GM can't play) and seem to be the most experienced player. I am hoping that I will be able to play in the second version (if there is one)
