[NFP] New Frontier Pass Screenshot Analysis Thread

Ooh, good point. Wax was also used to waterproof sails and rope, IIRC.

The more I think about it, the more I'm astonished it took them this long to add it as a resource.

well not anew resource, but I find it interesting that the Colombian "plantation" looks like It's unique, maybe Colombia has a focus on plantation crops? most of them seem tied together like the Otuback station so It's not likely all of that was a resource. but what if you start a colombian plantation on a resource and then you can repeat the yields by building another one adjacent to it?
agreed very well spotted, this seems the right answer

Now the question will be, how do we counter the soothsayers? With missionaries? Apostles? Or just stamp them by the might of our military?

I can see it now. Georgian soothsayers are walking around my empire, throwing meteors down onto my cities and chanting: “Hear me and rejoice! You have had the privilege of being saved by the Great Queen. You may think this is suffering. No... it is salvation. The universal scales tip toward balance because of your sacrifice. Smile... for even in death, you have become children of Tamar.”

Did they update how hills look or are they always this clear in 4k?

Are we sure the Oxford University is really pillaged here? It looks to me the same as if someone nukes a wonder, which adds a fire around/on it, but doesn't damage the wonder. The wonder model doesn't seem to have changed either in the fire, save for the fires dancing around it.

To me it looks like Oxford uni itself is on fire, with smoke billowing from it, certainly at the back left. It's certainly doesn't appear to be burning to the ground; so I suspect it's temprrary damage that halts it's abilities; but that can probably be fixed with a project? I wouldn't even mind if some disasters did take out wonders for good (other than the big "comet" strike I mean). It doesn't get much more historical than that!

It looks to me that the smoke is coming from the red buildings next to Oxford, rising and stretching over the tile with the wonder.

I'm not convinced that there is any improvement on that left tile other than rain forest. And there is fire clearly on the wonder tile, not just around it.

Similarly to how there is fire on a tile after a wonder gets hit by a nuke. The point I'm trying to make is not that the tile itself is not on fire, but that the wonder itself does not seem pillaged, since the model seems normal. No ruins, no charred remains, as opposed to the buildings from the campus above.

I don't think hills without anything but resources on them were the issue before. It's only an issue to see hills when they have a feature (Geothermal, Woods and Rainforest) or tile improvements or districts ontop of them as they just graphically become "flat" because the tile improvement/district or feature dosen't have a graphic for being on a hill specifically.

Otherwise the hills don't look any different in this image then currently in game.

firaxis would not dare to damage wonders with disasters. Rage quit is real and most casual players would flip out. So at most while on "fire" no bonuses until disasters is finished.

No different in this sense from silkworms. Most likely a Plantation.

Somewhat different, in that the 'silk' plantation, at least from the graphic, represents the Mulberry food for the silkworms, rather than the silk production itself. That (at least to me) puts the Silk Plantation in the same category with any other Plantation growing a money/amenity plant crop. Bees, by their nature, will hunt down their own food/honey raw material, so don't require planting anything.

Although for certain crops in both Plantations and Farms they have become a requirement for continued growth (pollination), but it remains very much to be seen whether they need to take that into consideration for the game.

Same yields as sugar I would guess

Honey is one of the most concentrated sources of Food Value available naturally. It also has medicinal/antiseptic qualities, and was recommended for treatment of wounds since at least Classical times.
And, of course, honey can be fermented into Mead, so the Resource potentially could have Amenity, Food, Scientific, and Health (anti-Plague?) benefits.

About the only thing it cannot do is stop meteorites . . .

The asteroid in the video wipes out a city, obliterating the Colosseum and Taj Mahal in the same go.
