[NFP] New Frontier Pass Screenshot Analysis Thread

Both lifespan and renown have hammer next to them ... so its somehow related to production. Maybe there is change in units upgrade system, like you cant just upgrade them instantly --- it takes time. Or you can demobilize them and then reasamble again when needed it time of war.
Most likely the hammer is just there as an UI placeholder Icon and wil be replaced when the Icons for lifespan and renown is fininshed.

The press kit screenshot folder has high quality screenshots that also specify names of the things shown.

The new world wonders (I assume there's exactly 3) are confirmed as Paititi, Fountain of Youth, and Bermuda Triangle. There might be more, but considering the pack is coming out next week I figure they'd show off all of them

New disasters are Solar Flares, Meteor Showers, Forest Firest, and Comet Impacts. Two of those are Apocalypse mode only, two are in the base game. I'm guessing Solar Flares and Comet Impacts are exclusive to Apocalypse mode, while Forest Fires and Meteor showers are available everywhere.

Are you sure two are coming to the base game? The screenshots you've linked are called Apocalypse Mode Meteor Shower and Apocalypse Mode Forest Fire.

I think you’re right. Forest fires in particular will tie into the climate change mechanics, as a risk to be mitigated for inland civs (imagine your national parks burning down :( ).

The comet strike and solar flare seem to cover large parts/all of the map and so seem overly destructive for a regular game.

That is a very good point! At the moment climate change negatively impacts coastal civs the most with their tiles disappearing. Forest fires and other disasters that put more hurt on inland civs would be a great addition to the base game even if apocalypse wasn't turned on

Given the primacy of chopping I'd imagine a lot of players would never see a forest fire!

I wonder if Forest Fires actually remove the Woods tiles or if it's a yield penalty for a set number of turns like a Drought.

The forest fire also seems to be affecting Oxford University in that one photo. Does that mean wonders can now get pillaged by natural disasters?

We also saw Taj Mahal eliminated by the comet strike.

Oh dear, might that thought suggest (or instead preclude) Notre Dame?

I hope the sight of that wouldn't be too trigger-y for Parisians.

Because it wiped out a city I believe. If you raze a city EVERYTHING is pernamently destroyed (which I kind of hate, wish that improvements and wonders stayed so you could "dig them up" somehow.

Being pillaged is different than being eliminated, which I would expect from a comet (meteor) striking a city. :p
