oh don't be stupid, of course there are women on the internet, old fat chicks playing WoW mostly, as allaince. And in chat rooms telling everybody how to behave. I was going to put up a <semi> hot pic but the only avatars you can use are from the civ games.
and the code didn't work, oh well, Farmer's work around is just as good and I really thank everybody who gave tips and advice and took the time to rehash the code over and over.
*this is not me complaining or begging for more help, this is me warning others so they don't use the code and spending the game time to learn it was blizzardcraft and 'working as intended' (which is not at all)
Well, it's not just "being stupid", sure, that aphorism was truer ten years ago, but still, generally speaking, there are fewer women on the internet in places of gaming than many might think.
However, philosophically, it is a sound strategy. I have, more than once, seen (especially in gaming communities) male users and players attempt to pretend to be female to gain advantage. Such as coming into a forum and saying "I have boobies, do this for me", when in fact, there are no boobies. A self respecting woman will rarely ever say "I am looking to have a favor done, and you should so totally do it since I'm a chick". At best this is a sense of entitlement that should not be stoked, and at worst it is someone lazy pretend to be a chick for a free ride.
When I say "there are no women on the internet" I mean that very seriously, in that there SHOULDN'T be any women on the internet. Not that they should get back to the kitchen, but that gender shouldn't matter, since it doesn't matter. No amount of coding work, or free stuff in an mmo, or what have you will get that guy anything he wants, but he's hardwired by nature to make the attempt.
At best such behavior, asking favors based on gender, is self demeaning to women, and at worst painfully abusive.
Mind you, I'm not specifically saying anything about you, just elaborating the philosophy behind that saying, and illustrating why I still use it into the modern day on a much more gender diverse internet.
