Hey guys,

For those of you that remember me, I slowed down my CIV playing to form one of the largest BF1942 clans out there. That turned into a community and all was good. Well, I pulled myself out of it and am looking at starting another venture.

This is for all gamers, not just FPS'sers. Read below and please give any constructive input. I've gotten a lot of positive feedback from the other gaming sites I visit (but I haven't neglected them like I have you) And just a bit of background, I'm 28, mature and follow through with what I start. As is appearant in my dealings with www.fragnastika.com.

So now that I have a little more free time on my hands I'm looking at giving back to the gaming community as a whole, not just BF1942.

So my idea was this,
I've always had a problem with seeing forums and hearing gamers complain about issues with games, hardware, fees, whatever to no avail. I don't like that companies like EA and others release a product and sometimes stop supporting it. Or issues like someone had with SWG. Kids make up a large demographic of gamers. How the hell can they get a credit card to pay for online games?
These are just a few of the issues. It would be a sounding board where the gamers voice can be heard. Thus the name, World Gaming Union. It would be just that. A union. But would work off of donations, not dues. The leadership would be headed by myself, siteadmins from various gaming sites, leaders of a few ESTABLISHED gaming clans from various games. I will have a small logo made up that sites can post to show they're support.
I registered a site, www.worldgamingunion.com. Which is the first step. I'm getting names and email address/phone numbers of potential board members and once that's done we'll be open. I need a place to host the site, and somebody that can act as a site admin (I'm not that great with that stuff) and someone to do the art work and logo.

I think this can be a good thing. One voice is hard to hear, but many voices can create quite a rumble.

I agree. I'm not having a shortage of support in the BF1942 community. I've spent a lot of time building a positive reputation with those players. But it will be hard to reach those that do not know me. The other games, like this one. It will take a lot of networking on my, and my supporters end.

yeah, a lot of work. But don't you every want to just do something that might make a difference? I put all this time into a clan and at the end of the day I just didn't have the satisfaction that I was looking for.

Any pitfalls you guys see that I don't?

A pitfall I see is that game companies might not take you seriously even if you have several thousand paying members. Its like the union revolutions of the 19th-20th century... but more of an embargo. They will still make money if they sell it to a small group or not. Its worth a shot though, I guess.

I guess I didn't mention that it will be not-for-profit. Any money will be donations. So it's a Union without dues. gamers get ripped off enough, I don't want to take more of they're money.

But to your point, I see it as a ladder. I'll get the smaller sites first, then move up. All it takes is one large company to recognize you and you can brake in to the rest.

Well the temp forum is up. We're accepting any help people can give. Artwork help, web design help.

Even if you have no skills, please stop by and sign up. To accomplish our goals we need numbers to back us up.

So take a min out of your day, drop over to http://www.siterite.net/wguforum/ and register. It's for a good cause.

What kind of artwork are you talking here? I might be able to get my gaming friends in the National Art Honors Society to come up with some ideas.

Well, I need a small banner to submit to friendly sites. Can't be too large. And a sig that people can wear (130 x 400) to show support. Has to be somewhat conservitive and would prefer it to say "World Gaming Union.com - For Gamers, By Gamers".

Something artsy would be great. I don't want to just end up with a banner of text. That won't attract attention. I think the logo will be the hardest part. If I can get a PSD of a logo then I can just put it on everything.

Any help would be appreciated. Click the link in my sig to register.

I'll check with my comp graphics friends and see if they'll sign up (I'm no good w/ comp stuff myself...my talent is reserved for paper;) )

Thanks a lot man. Glad to see a few of you show your support by signing up. The web site should be up and the forum skinned in a few weeks.
