I am leaving. I really like this place and it pains me to go but once you realize the OT formula there is nothing more to do. It goes like this, there are several threads on CFC. (I have come to realize that there are only eleven threads on CFC, despite what my monitor says,) Once I figure out the forumla for them, well there is no reason to participate anymore. You might have noticed the drop in quantity of my posts, well that is becuase I have stopped bothering with most threads. Thats right, I don't even read them, becuase I already know what they say.
Thread Type 1, Religious Threads:
Someone wants to talk about the Bible, hoboy here we go. Two or three people will break off into a serious debate that more or less ends in a draw every time. Others make sniping little comments. Eventually after two months of going nowhere the admins decide to close it and the cycle starts again.
Thread Type 2, Bush/Iraq/Republicans etc.(also known as politics):
Time for a Bush-bash. Bush is making a speach? Watch as the socialists come out of the woodwork to condemn Satan Jr. and his evil minions the Republicans/religious right/conservatives/American military/Americans in general/Blair/Cheyney/DeLay etc. Rmsharpe will make a snippy comment and SN will say something about how torture is acceptable. Oh no, can't have that, time for the America's intrests/human rights debacle. As if we've ever came to a satisfying conclusion on that one.
Thread Type 3, Event Threads:
Someone got cancer/hit by a car/pregnant/a birthday/married/suicide bombed/whatever. It is time to congradulate/console them. And don't you dare post any thing other than a hollow halfhearted goodlucks or you will be banned for being insensitive. This also holds true for terrorist attacks, except they mandate someone posting the obligatory "I hope we catch and kill all those ****ers."
Thread Type 4, Help Me with My Homework:
The gist of this type of thread is that someone sucks at physics, unlike Perfection. Thats for the help Perf.
Thread Type 5, Economic Debate:
Economics is fun, these debates are too. Until Marla and luiz get involved and start playing acronym tennis. Everyone but them gives up by the end of page two leaving the thread to die a lonely death.
Thread Type 6, Something is Happening Where You Live:
And the rest of us are supposed to care, right. These usually drop off the page within a day.
Thread Type 7, Humor:
Rarely funny, but be sure to post a lol in there anyway. Becuase people do care about postcount.
Thread Type 8, User Based Threads:
Deleted or closed as soon as a mod sees them, but hey atleast that has kept them from getting stale.
Thread Type 9, the Foreign Language Thread:
Someone posts asking if there are Germans here, turns out there are. German ensues. Bonus points if the admins remember to enforce the no foreign languages rule.
Thread type 10, the poll/quiz:
Do you like vanilla ice cream, who is your favorite rapper, which Star Trek character are you most like. You post your answer, knowing full well that noone is going to read it.
Thread Type 11: The Already Been Done Thread:
What is your political compass score? There is also the slightly less annoying two people talking about the same event subcatagoery but those are okay.
So there is a formula, why quit. Well I have thought that for about a season but here is why. I can take a days worth of posts from last year and fit them all into threads that happened today. So what, am I just saying the same thing in a loop? Yes, and there is just no point to that.
Bye.
