New Orleans Police Captain: "We have authority by martial law to shoot looters"

It still doesn't entitle people to loot, Forma.

No, it doesn't. And I was obviously not even insinuating it did. But I do think it says a lot about our culture that many condone vigilantes shooting people over possessions.

According to our currently lopsided Supreme Court, that is unfortunately true.

Corporations are superior to persons, as they can survive. Or be revived. Or anything.

In LA things are a bit more racialy tense, and if guys have to get on top of a store with rifles to protect themselves during a riot, it would seem to be a pretty bad one.

I wasn't talking about the period of time but the location. More people in a smaller area when violence involved is typically worse than a bunch of people spread across the whole city (not total damage done but how damaged the areas affected are).

Racially tense in what sense?

So I guess I'm still missing what makes this a 1:1 comparison to the white gun-happy racists righteous vigilantes.

So you acknowledge that they're different circumstances and should be regarded as such?

They weren't protecting themselves. They were protecting their stores which were located there to exploit the blacks who lived in the neighborhood. When the rioting started they became natural targets.

Considering I don't know what to Google, all I know about the situation is that some Asians are on a store top protecting it and themselves from rioters.

Yeah, it says we acknowledge our right to property, unlike socialist countries.

There are gangs in LA, and one of the three groups happens to be Asians. Sure, they probably aren't treated as bad socially as black people there, but that doesn't make them white.
