New unit: Da Vinci's Tank

Looks good, the animation is fine and i think its worth for an early tank-version in scenarios (for example), i dl it and will see for what i can use this unit.
good job at all, thumps up.

aaglo: I put this unit into a mod I am tailoring for myself. It is a tank unit available with Gunpowder. Seeing this unit is most impressive. It is beautiful and fits into the era well. Thank you.

Just some trivia -- evidently daVinci did design a self-propelled vehicle:

Sorry, the major article is in Italian; just the page with the photo is in English. Evidently it was meant to be powered by torsion springs, and would obviously have had very limited range. Still ...

One of the strange things ever designed by the great inventor & artist Leonardo Da Vinci: a tank :crazyeye:

I didn't know Da Vinci made a tank cool.
now where will we put it at the same time as leonardo's workshop.
What about stats?

I'm thinking of adding this to my mod, but I am somewhat hesitant... I mean, it would be a perfect bridge between the ancient siege towers and modern tanks... yet it is pretty out there. I just don't know....

someone convince me! :mischief:

Any one of a number of possibilities :D

1. Hero devised a steam engine in, what, 300 BCE? So maybe, in alternate-history Civ land, Leo did the same and made it work.

2. Assume there are a team of oxen inside, lumbering away quite slowly to move the beast.

3. Analogy: Hussite war wagons. Although not armored all around, were pulled by horses and maneuvered into position, side by side, to present a fortified wall against attack. Assume a team of horses.

-- Okay, so "any number" is reduced to two or three -- c'est las guerre. ;)

Best,

Oz

This is an interesting unit. Though I would use it as a toybox unit in my mod.

[insert arched eyebrow, quizzical expression smiley here] and what, pray tell, is a "toybox" unit?

someone suggested make it SPAWN from the workshop every.. oh i say... 10-20 turns since the workshop NEVER dies....
or use ur idea and make it go bye bye at some point.. i dont know..

Tank...
if ur making its stats, ill list all i can think of

shields=50
a/d/m = 2-4-1
bombard=7
bomb range=1
rate of fire=1-2 you pick.

my idea... but i have no clue.

A Toybox unit is a unit in my mod that it is not advalible to the standard game, but is advalible for scenario creation :).

Also Leonardo make studies about steam power, but like Hero the applications were not arrived :(

A joke: on an italian comedy, 2 persons make a time voyage on 1400 and meet Leonardo. They tell about great invention of future and in the end of movie Leo create the locomotive...

Sounds like Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure.

Btw, the problem with steam power for this unit is simply that it means I have to either bump up the unit to the industrial age, or move Steam Power down to the Middle Ages... neither of which I want to do.
