New unit: Da Vinci's Tank

That is whack, aaglo. I think I might have it spawned by Leonardo's Workshop once and a while, just for some weird flavour! :)

dude this could like come from Leonardo’s workshop!! I know I've asked many a times :D but how far down your list is that roman quinqireme?
D'you mean this, Mr. The Corn? :p

this is one of the coolest units i ever saw great job :king: :king: :goodjob:

I too wonder what they seem to be throwing out the back... Wonderful unit :D

The spinning top is taking a poop.

Da Vinci should have attached an axe to the bottom rim so that when the contraption starts spinning, it hacks down enemy soldiers.

Interesting unit. Special thought is required to discover a place for it.

Brilliant job! -- In the preview thread, I raised comparisons to Jan Huss' War Wagons -- even though Leo's thought was men turning cranks, there's no reason not to imagine a team of four horses inside powering the beast. Like Huss' Wagons I'd imagine these as primarily defensive -- essentially mobile fortresses, the pet project of some Renaissance prince with way too many ducats ;) . Make it Wheeled, MF=1, maybe AF one less than a musketman and DF 2 higher. Oh and VERY expensive ... Or, as has been widely suggested, just have Leo's Workshop crank 'em out every few turns.

Best,

Oz

Wow! This is just a great little unit. The smoke looks incredible--not that the rest of it doesn't. ;) Fantastic!

What a great idea! I recall that Leonardo's tank wouldn't have worked, because he overlooked the fact that if it had been built the wheels (all pedal-driven, if memory serves) would in fact have rotated in different directions and the tank wouldn't have gone anywhere. I hope anyone adding this unit to their mods will therefore make it unable to move unless picked up (=pushed) by something bigger and heavier...

Hmm, worth thinking about, and at the very least, it would be a unit that can upgrade to tank with no questions asked!

Funny nice unit. Hm, I'm not sure, what do they throw out of the back door. Looks like a shoe to me. May be, it is much to warm in that tank and the are trowing there shoes out. Wait a minute, who know, what they are trowing out later... Well, it seems, this thing isn't Leo's Tank, it's a rolling sauna. ;)

I saw a TV program about it, and the people there assumed that this wasn't overlooked, but rather a way for Leo to make it harder for someone to steal the idea (there was no copyright in those days). He himself would know what error he had put in.

Quinquereme: Yep, the roman quinquereme is in my todo-list
Post #22 in the New unit: Phoenician Bireme thread, Page 2

Well that just sucks, did you just decided to take it off recenly or something? hmmmmm...:hmm:

I did the roman trireme (I was referring to that). Why should I do also the roman quinquereme (it's not that different from the trireme)? I mean, why do you need it?

Sorry, if I gave the wrong impression of my plans :mischief: .

Lol its ok, sorry im so pushy to get you to do it :D lol I took it that you were making both the trireme and the quinquereme, the reason I wanted it was for my Might of Rome mod that I'm making :D the more units the better. Thanks anyway and i will be sure to use the trireme, and look forward to incorporating it into my mod. Thanks again, and good luck with your future units!

Wow! A historical medieval-era tank. Great unit as usual. :goodjob:
