New Units from Summer (August 25, 2004)

I'm wondering how these units look on a PC. Are they okay? Do the civ-colors work okay?
first off, there is a minor error in the axe thrower .ini, the fidget is missing a .flc at the end ;)

Here's an ingame preview, some are maybe a touch too big but IMO the firaxian units are too small. Civcolours work great! :goodjob:

Thanks for the feed back, Dease. Since I don't have CivIII installed anymore, I wasn't sure how the units would look in the actual game. They seem to be good though. But, looking at the in-game preview, I think that they are a bit too big. I think though, if I remember correctly, the units that shipped with Conquests seemed to be a little bigger than the original Firaxian units--especially the Enkido Warrior. If it's too much of a problem, I'm sure someone will shrink them with the SBB. Thanks again for the screenshot!

They look very clean. Other than the size, they fit in very nicely with the Firaxis and Kinboat units. Everyone seems to be making units a bit larger, Firaxis included.

I think I'll be bumping the Iroquois Rifleman utahjazz originally made to a Musketman position and slide this guy in at the Rifleman level.

The Polynesian Spearman will, obviously, be a spearman replacement... and I don't really have any particular use for the other two in the Age of Man mod, but perhaps the Croc can be used as a Med. Infantry replacement for the Polynesians...

I didn't think today would be a good day to go onto Civfanatics...then you and DPII unleash another wave of new units and BAM!!

I honestly have to thankyou for all of these...Topgun must be happy! At least one unit based off his art is now a reality..Thankyou Utahjazz!

My to-do list includes a Polynesian Swordsman(based on Kal-els drawing) and a Polynesian Med.Infantry.....I'm going to try poser TODAY(I tired of waiting to try it)....we shall she what I'll be able to do with it.

Nice work Utah. Any chance these have been resized yet or is it going to be done. They aren't too big so I can live if they aren't resized.

Sword of Geddon, you should base the polyniesian units on Maori warriors, they were polyiesian and were very good fighters in wars like the New Zealand wars in the 1860s against the british.

Wow, a remake of the Frank! I've been using him and I like him anyway (although I have no icons for him, which is annoying). Thanks for the update. How open are you to requests at the moment...?

utah, is the lancer or the alternative poleslinger the next one?

I have the default, fortify, and attack animations for the lancer animated. After I do the death and run animations, I will begin to render them. I have everything rendered for the more western looking Native American Rifleman. I have a model "done" for a Russian Pikeman, but I might want to tweak it a little bit; I'm not totally happy with it. I'm also playing around with one more model, but I'm not sure that I can make it happen.

Anyway, because I have to transfer files between my mac and pc, I prefer to do multiple units at once. That way, I only have to do one transfer session. So, it might be a week-and-a-half or so before all the units are done. The lancer will definately be with the next group though.

The modified Pole Slinger will more than likely not happen. The problem is that I don't know where the files are for that unit, so it wouldn't as simple to just making a couple of changes. I would have to redo everything, and I don't really want to.

Oh please! I don't need it right now, let's say I need it (and the lancer) for mid-late september, after the 22th.
By that day, please try to do it!

All great units :D

SUPERB!

I love them quite a bit :D Just the right blend detail and lack thereof to mix with the standard civ units

that said, I will be honest with you; they are a bit big, scaleing them down just abit to make them civ sized could improve thier over-all effect quite a bit, even if they are supurb as it is, what seperates them from perfection of the art is only a thin line really
