On upgrading units; I think it's pretty silly that it costs 675 gold or however much to upgrade Musketmen into Fusiliers. That's really the only one that sticks out to me.

G, is there any other action that can trigger the "Stole our land" diplo-penalty other than using a GG or buying tiles as America? Because I bought a couple of tiles near my neighbor and got that massive -120 (You stole their territory) penalty

If you bought a tile that the AI had reserved it might happen - I'unno, I'll take a look.

I thought it might be something like that, it was a luxury-tile right next to his border. Still I haven't seen it before so I figured I'd report it.

EDIT: Doesn't seem like it's an isolated case, I managed to duplicate it by buying a few tiles near another neighbor.

It's basically how much the AIs conveys your nearby lands and attempts to forward settles it in my perspective. If you prevent them from forward settling you you get a diplomacy hit. I've done this by simulating 10 shaka (known for their huge expansion AI bias) in a small map. Attempting to buy any tile within your cities while having these shaka cities near your territory will have them . I've also made a simulation of having 10 Gandhis around my borders and attempting to buy tiles. Only some of the Gandhi AIs deducted diplomatic points.

Sure, but coveting land is one thing, getting mad over buying territory is another thing. This is neither of those. This is a MASSIVE penalty that is usually associated with great generals or America stealing their actual territory, not tiles they might expand to.

Note, I'm not saying this breaks the game or couldn't work if properly tuned, I'm mostly asking if it is intentional, because -120 is way bigger than any other penalty.

Sounds like a bug. I'll give it a look.
