Spearman vs. Tank is this a real deal thing? On the combat calculator the Tanks wins 90+ percent of the time.
Well then there's still the 10- percent, isn't there? ;) I personally have never seen it happen yet, but I'm sure it does. Killer even posted a save game of the event, didn't you, Killer? I would look for it but the search function is disabled.

I did post a save, but it was 1.16 and the change to 1.29 makes a change in the saved seed so the tank now wins. But I will post my next case of tank-loss-to-spearman ;)

to give you an idea of the probabilities for veteran tanks (healthy):

Fundamentalism: I think that they wanted to simplify the government system. It's a loss, you're right. In the C&C forum there's a fundamentalism mod for sure.
civ2 vs. civ3 combat: I'm not sure, but iirc spearman beat tanks even in civ2.

Why did they get rid of Fundamentalism in Civ3
I think it was because it was too unbalancing, especially in the later stages of the game when you've researched most of what you want. IMO it was in many cases the best government in Civ2; I just about always switched to it. Therefore it was kind of unbalancing, and the makers of Civ3 wanted there to be a larger variety of good options.

Plus, how is fundementalism a form of government? I think of it as more of a state, not a gov, since there could be a religiously fundementalist country that had, say, a monarchy. Couldn't there? Or am I sounding like an idiot?

No, i'm with you. I'd say fundamentalism is more of a belief, or a state (as you said). If i'm not mistaken, the term 'fundamentalist' usually refers to a certain group of people within a religion who have particular, very strict beliefs. I wouldn't call it a government as such. But geez it was a good part of Civ2...

 Has anyone had a huge issue with the AI stealing military plans, exploiting spies, sabotaging production, or stealing maps? In this one game I roped everyone into a virtual WW3 and everyone was either annoyed or furious at me for nearly a century. During that time three cities were sabotaged, I had a steal tech attempt, a steal maps attempt, military plans stolen three times, and my spy captured in Berlin. Arghh.

Errr...
I think he means troop positions. When you've researched espionage, build the agency and planted a spy, you can order the spy to steal enemy troop positions.

In the area of terraforming with nukes, can anyone tell me what (if) tundra is changed to when it is nuked.

Just after a little advice on starting. My first moves with my worker will be to go to a cow tile (building the road to it first if its a tile away) and mine/road it. Does it really matter which of the two is done first? If there is no moo-moo, then i will go to the nearest shielded grassland and mine/road. I like to improve two tiles around the capital then start a road to where i'm gunna send my first settler. Should i only improve one tile, mabey even improve more before building a connection road? If there are luxuries around the capital, is it imperitive to connect them straight away?

I usually like my towns to have a temple, barracks, library, and walls before i start my swordsman rush. Is that waiting too late, or mabey is it good to build a courthouse/marketplace before going all-military? I've also heard that walls are as useful as flyscreens on submarines, true?

Hope those 20 questions are clear, just after some other opinions as i'm starting to play Monarch and it seems to be getting more important, and i don't think i use my workers as effectively as i should...

I need to know how many armies in the field you can have. I've only been able to build four or five since I played a mod allowing you to build a military academy w/o the prerequesite.

Also why isn't the Heroic Epic considered to be a military improvement, thus excluding it from being built during a War-Time mobilizaiton?

Bose - there's a good article on optimised starts (in the war academy or strategy section?), I don't follow a formula myself, I just don't have the concentration, probably why I play most games at regent. :)

Hb - Number of armies you can support is based on number of cities you have, but I don't know the formula.

Killer M:

That would have been my guess, but since I have never nuked a city in tundra I wanted to see if anyone knew what would actually happen. I think its time for a little experimenting though, I am sick of putting size 2 cities in the white stuff, and having them rely on nothing more than the ocean to increase food, even desert can be irrigated. :)

Hb- 1 army per four cities (I believe this can be edited, but not 100% sure)

Are your spaceship components moved to your capital when completed ?

I ask because I'm just about to start building the s/ship, but I also want to relocate my palace to improve the productivity of a different region of my empire which I conquered relatively recently.
I was wondering if I would be leaving my s/ship components vulnerable in an area with less production capability (ie. less ability to quickly reinforce the new capital if it was attacked).

Greetings to Fightertown!

Sometimes on my diplomacy screen, there's a small yellow dot right next to a leader head. I'm sure this is use to indicate something, probably important, but what?
