Yes it is!

Try a tiny map with 16 civs 8or if you are a purist with 4, but with little land.

Choose Persia

Find iron

Stack immortals

GO!!!!!!

That is the easiest wat to win Deity ;)

psychogenius: Yes. Easily. Without reloading. By conquest, domination, space, culture, and diplomacy. There are reports on here of people winning a OCC (one city challenge) on deity. Smart play goes a VERY long ways.

thanks
also im loking for somebody to play PTW with me
im not that good but im just looking for a game

Can anyone refer me to a tutorial about creating/modifying governments? I tried posting in the respective forum but I don't think it's visited as much as this one.

C12imson: ouch! governments are extremely important in gameplay, to the point that most players would NEVER leave their personal favorite for a given situation EVERY. I, for example, have NEVER been in communism in Civ3. Never ever! Period!

Modding them is opening a can of worms... eh... exploits. I guess you will simply have to take all existant forms along with all the mods available via the download feature @ www.civfanaitics.com and the c&c forum and then try it a bit.

if you want to learn about the editor in general, try the scenarios foum and the C&C FORUM: simply download mods and #take them appart'......

Wow, I just got 5328 score on tiny, regent with the Persians. How are the bonus points calculated? I had a conquest victory. Are the bonus points more for conquest than, for example, domination? Or is it just the date? (I'm very happy at the moment; this was about double my previous highest score.)

the sooner the higher! Try a Warrior rush wiht no repawn and two civs on a tiny map wiht the aztecs..... over 15000 points possible on Emperor!

Thanks LT, maybe I'll try that, although Im still a newbie. Are the bonus points only time are does the type of victory factor into it?

LT, I just read your post #101. By coincidence, thats what I did (regent, not deity). Great minds....

Score is calculated by date finished, difficulty and achievements. There's a score calculator in the download section.

Hello, I'm new here. I've been reading through a lot of the posts, but everything is so scattered about it's difficult to find consistent strategies that I'm looking for.

Anyhow, I'm playing Vanilla Civ3, no mods or anything, and I need help.

I am playing as the Persians on Monarchy level of difficulty on a huge map, with the default rules and default amount of civ opponents.

My problem is that I always end up producing slower, and gaining tech slower. My main goal is to complete the Great Library before the AI can, but I can never get it.

Could you guys give me some ideas on what steps I should take to be the first to get these wonders before the AI does?

Oh, on a side note: I place my settler on the square I start at, get my worker going, I develop a warrior to scope out the surrounding land for goody huts, and I produce a settler ASAP so I can expand quickly. That's my basic strategy. Are there any faults to this?

Also, I read a few things on armies and how to create them, but I'm still confused. Can anyone direct me to the right place to read up on how to mobilize an army? (Sorry for this stupid question)

Thanks in advance.

Jer: Welcome!

1st: Try researching at zero income! If you keep your research @ 100% or as close to it as possible you will usually be able to get the Great Library. Check out some Training Games in the Succession Geames Froum

Also, make sure you have a strong producer ready to build the wonder. This means not building settlers in one town, but instead a Temple and two defenders. Also, hook the town to the road net. Maybe to to 10% lux tax. Now, the city can reach size 7 and use more squares - thus produce faster then the AI!

Do you use patch 1.29f? If not- get it right now and uinstall it! You can find a link to it in the FAQ thread!

You can at any time post a save here and ask someone (me?) to analyse it!

on your starting sequence: make sure you do not waste production. the settler can only be built when the town rreaches size three. Calculate the turns so the settler gets done when that happenes. For example you can produce an extra Warrior that can act as military police in the city, or a Scout if you are expansionist!

on armies: read the FAQ thread. The info is in there I'm sure ;) Also, the search function is on again - give it a try.

Added to this: prepare building the GL in that city. Build a palace in it and once you discover or get literature, switch to building the GL.

You can also try to get a great leader.....

to add to Addies suggestion: I prefer to make my capital a settler factory and let my no2 city become the producer just to be able to use that prebuild trick.

Hey Killer -

I got a question that doesn't even apply to me, but just curious for curious sake.

Let's say you didn't have any of the patches on Civ and installed PTW, does that automatically bring you up to date on patches for CIV 3 or does that mean you are playing PTW on CIV 3 1.01 (or whatever it was)???

*Shrug*

Just wondering. :)

I keep getting good answers, so I'll ask more questions...

This time around: What's the deal with that color-coded histograph? I mean, is it suppose to be an actual readable chart, or is it just a tacky decoration? If it does carry any significance, how does one READ the damn thing (especially concerning the civ to the far right!)?

Thanks again for this (literally and figuatively) killer thread. :goodjob:
