Horses aren't visible until you know Animal Husbandry, so there may be some in the start area that we just can't see yet.

Oh, that I know.. more specifically, should I be worried that the game may be ehm.. "doctored" to have no horses in the neighbourhood?

Even though it will make me feel like a bully to do it on this low level, I have to go for conquest. That or Religious. Those are the only 2 victory types (besides "time") that I have never acheived in a XOTM game.

I lean to moving S to settle, and leave the N food for GP farm.

also, you have an error... cataphracts actually lose the ability of being immune to first strikes.... normal knights have it.

Need to upgrade to flanking 2 to make them immune

Yep, sorry about that. Misread the in-game help . You're correct that cataphracts are not immune to first strikes. I've corrected the initial post.

Try the Submit link on the same page as you downloaded the start file from.

I have no idea what you did that may have invalidated your submission, but it looks as if you may not have read much of the first post in this thread, since you have posted here after starting your game, and you missed the submission instruction. In which case you *might* also have missed some or all of our rules relating to reloads and replays.

Your saves can be named however you like. The final save gets renamed automatically when you upload it.

This will be my first BOTM attempt, and my very first BTS game.
NE-N looks like the perfect place for a whipping frenzy followed by a GP farm, if these things apply to BTS too, so I'll probably settle there on 2nd turn.
As this is an easy level, I will probably aim for a domination victory, or maybe experiment with conquest. We'll see !

I like the cows for the capital. Since it looks like there are more forests S, I may want to settle there. The big food site looks like a 2nd city GP farm. I'll decide after moving the warrior.

I can't seem to load the game file. I have loaded the latest version of BtSword and the HOF mod. When I try to load the file I get a dialog box, " The save file you have selected is protected to ensure that the assets in your mod folder have not been changed." The load then fails. What gives? I would appreciate any help.

AlanH: Thank you for the reply. I downloaded the "assetchecker" and it looks like I am missing many "python files." I have verified that I successfully downloaded all the patches to Vanilla, Warlords and BTS. I recently installed Colonization. I am wondering if that might have had an effect??

Any additional thoughts. I really don't want to uninstall the whole Civ4 suite to start my installs all over again, but really want to try my hand at a lower difficulty GOTM. Thanx in advance for your advice.
