News from Aspyr on Steam

On the steam forums they've said they're in the approvals process right now so hopefully not much longer

Patch no good for saved games? It won't load my game from last weekend. :(

Guess I can start a new one, but, bummer.

Edit: Actually, I can't start a new game either. I set all the conditions and hit start but it never makes it to the loading screen, just takes me back to the blue main menu. This is not good.

Second edit: Tried many different things to get the game to work again, but disabling ALL mods is what worked... Now I just have to figure out which mod broke my game. That should be fun.

I had the same problem with the latest betas of Quo's Combined Mods. I've had to disable the last few updates. However, the problem started about a month ago, well before the Persia/Macedon update. The game runs fine for me, although I haven't bought the new DLC.

Quo runs fine for me. My problem was "Civ 6 Improvement Patch"... which sucks as I really liked that one. The steam version also crashed my game. I left feedback for the guy, so we'll see if he updates it.

Actually, I've fallen out of love with Quo's Combined Mods. The game is changed too much. I like some of the changes it makes, but having all those changes in the same mod is overkill IMHO.

I have found that after every new 'official' addition to the game: DLC, Patch, etc, I have to go back and recheck any Mods and see if they still work. Ironically, some Mods that did not work at all before the latest official changes now work, so it's not certain what the results will be with any given change.
So far, though, at least the new Civs that Modders are adding all seem to work for me with the latest DLC/Patch. Civ 6 Improvements Patch has also (so far!) not given me any problems, but I did have problems with it before the latest Official Download, so go figure...

I'm going to go ahead and say the summer patch won't be ready until after labor day weekend. Anyone wanna take bets?

Well, based on previous patterns, Aspyr should release in the 2-3 weeks timeframe after the PC release. And that is exactly what AspyrBlair confirmed yesterday when he answered my post on the SteamMac thread. So we should be looking at August 10-17, and this will include cross platform. I truly believe somewhere along this production cycle Aspyr believed they could sort things out with Firaxis and release it concurrently as per AspyrWoo`s post months ago, but it seems that Firaxis had issues with managing cross platform in all platforms and unfortunately there is a dependency on them. Also, company policies or agreements between Firaxis and Aspyr are such that porting to the other two platforms remains second priority. I would venture to say what is truly clear by the behavior displayed all along that Firaxis is and will cater to their bigger PC base always. Now, I'm starting to think that it might not be all that bad. Right now, on other threads in this very forum, people have begun to complain about the amount of bugs. I, at least, have not found the amount of bugs when we have gotten the new DLC`s. So, maybe, Aspyr includes the hot fixes prior to their release and we are saved the grief.

furthermore, it doesn't look all that exciting, so whenever. :) (of course faster is better, but I'm not chomping at the bit for this one)

I've reached the same point myself. Too. Many. Changes. Sheesh.

Without them, Civ would be PC only. So I'm okay with them.
I am okay with Aspry, they are just a sub contractor with a thankless job.

I am not okay with Firaxis and their dev model from the 1990s. They said they rewrote 6 from scratch. Then 6 releases as Windows only. So they rewrote from scratch, but repeated all the bad choices from the civ3/4 days? Makes no sense. 2016 and opting-in to DLL hell? Crazy.

Plus, apparently Firaxis missed the iPhone phenomenon entirely. It is kind of remarkable, but not in a good way!

This is what I tell myself everytime I'm waiting for an update. The wait is not Aspyr's fault. They do their job as fast as they can and we can be thankful that someone is porting the game to the mac. The responsibility is more on Firaxis and their macOS policy.

But it's also hard to imagine a game that would be available on both platforms on Day 1; whose DLCs, patches, updates and hotfixes would be available exactly at the same time and with which mods would work exactly the same whether you're making them or simply playi...
