Woo Hoo, too bad I cannot submit a Conquest Save. Those are great bonuses. Cheers!

We already have a SGotM running w/the Zulus

Yes! And WOTM5 is the Zulu as well! However, they had been the civ with the longest time since last appearing in Civ3 PTW, so I chose them.

It's been a while since I tried a GOTM but I might give this one a shot with the Conquest bonus.

For some reason, the GOTM file I downloaded did not work. When I tried to load it, the computer said ERROR: Error reading file; or something like that. First, I thought that it was because I did'nt have PTW v1.27f so I downloaded it, but that did'nt work either- the application would not work. It first said that a few files were missing and then told me to insert "the correct CD". What the hell does it all mean?

If you could contact me by PM, I will attempt to help you find a solution. Civ3 PTW, v1.27f is the correct version. After downloading the save file from the gotm.civfanatics.net site, I usually have to start PTW first and then attempt to load the save. It is unclear to me if you are able to start PTW at all. Please PM me.

Well, I'm guessing that after I install the patch, I have to go and run the game from the new folder that has been created during the installation (a new folder was created and there is a icon in there that says that it is Civ III PTW) because the original file I use to run PTW does not have any of the new effects that is mentioned in the "Whats New in this Patch" page. Nor does it load GOTM 63.
However, as I said before, the new Civ III PTW application file refuses to start. The original PTW (without any changes made in the new patch) does work.

I actually run PTW using my Civ3 Conquests disk; when you buy Conquests you also get the latest patched version of PTW (and base Civ3, too, I believe). So the install is fairly clean. Of course my Conquests version has had to be patched up to the latest version.

I believe when you download and install the latest patch upgrade to PTW, it replaces the PTW executable that you had from before. If you start up PTW now, what version # does it show in the lower left corner of the first menu (the one asking if you want to Start a New GAme, Load an existing one, Play a Scenario, etc.)

Version 1.14f is an early version of the old, original, unexpanded Civ3. You need the Play the World expansion, at version 1.27f in order to play the Classic GOTMs.

Play the World is not a free upgrade, and downloading the version 1.27f updater will not solve your problem if you haven't bought the expansion. The best way to get it is to buy a copy of Civ3 Complete, which is available pretty cheap these days.

Strange! Sorry, I didn't think PtW ever came as version 1.14f. If you *are* running an earlier version of PtW then you *ought* to be able to update it using the 1.27f updater.

you can easily tell if you have PTW or not - open up a new game and see if you have the PTW civs in the game - Korea, arabia, etc. If not, it's Vanilla.
