News: SGOTM 11 Sign Up Thread

OK, let's see if I have this straight. There will be 13 opponents, each grouped into several alliances? Is this going to be like NATO, Warsaw Pact, East Asian Co-Prosperity Sphere, etc.,?

And I stillwant to know if differential naval movement is on and whether galleys can travel on the ocean.

1. Comfortable at emperoprere, uh, that level above Monach.
2. 3rd SGOTM
3. Team Smurkz, please.

lurker's comment: Team Smurkz, if they are playing, would you guys mind having a team lurker? :wavey:

As the first Smurkzer to post, I have no problem with a dedicated team lurker.

@DBear: If you edit your post after the event don't be surprised if I miss your edit :p

The standard game rules for SGOTMs are given in the Reference thread. We then define specific changes on a per-game basis. Differential Naval Movement is always on for SGOTM unless otherwise stated, and so it will be on for this game. Galleys can go back in the ocean in this game, since that was a special rule defined for the last game only.

Let's try it this way: There are groups of civs who are locked in mutual protection pacts so that, if you are at war or peace with one of them you are at war or peace with all of that group. They are separate, non-overlapping groups, and you start out at peace with all civs.

1. Been around every block but Warlord or Chieftain more than once
2. Been in this since the beginning
3. Whomp is putting up a team

Smurkz for World Domination! :p

@Ansar: I sure don't mind, you're welcome in. :)

That doesn't sound quite right either. :p
If a group is in MPP, it means that if you declare on one of them and attack in that civ's territory, or keep units there over the IBT, the others will declare on you. If you are declared on, the others will not automatically do so as well. Also if you sign for peace with one, you are still at war with the others, and that one could declare on you again if you attack one of the others. At least that's how MPPs work in the normal game.

1) Sober? I've beaten all but Sid. I can play Emperor using "Slinger's Rules".
2) The first one was my first one. Got some wooden utensils as a team leader in the second.
3) Sign me up for Whomp's crew, please.

Not quite so in this case.

- If you make peace with one of them then you automatically make peace with all of them.

- If you attack one of them in their territory then you are at war with all of them.

- If one of them declares war on you then they all declare war on you.

PaperBeetle reporting for duty :salute:

1. Emperor
2. New to SG
3. I believe I am in a locked alliance with Wardancer (deity, new) and Taxpayer'sMoney (monarch, new).

Taxpayer'sMoney checking in.

1. Regent (despite PaperBeetle's kind, but optimistic promotion to monarch)
2. New to this lark.
3. I'm teamed with PaperBeetle and Wardancer. Also any other infinitely wise (and patient) members would be welcome.

Alan I think we have a team. The name will follow though I like Psycho Bunnies. Sanabas, JB1964, Bede, Scoutsout, Sir Bugsy (when he signs in) and myself.

@AlanH: Ok, then it's not standard MPPs, thanks for the clarification. This sounds like a really really interesting variation.

Ok. But if we make defence war with one of block member we may not be at war with others?
How MA works? I think BFF members can't go to MA against each other?
Can we have MA with member of another block?

Important question is reputation: If we have gpt deal with one block member and declare to another will reputation be hurt?

lurker's comment: I'd like to request official "lurker status" on the Whomper's team. What a fantastic group that will be! :D

1.) Emperor

2.) yes

3) Team Wotan (and dman I talked to Wotan and you are welcome too.)

1. Deity in vanilla, as yet never played higher than emperor in conqests ...

2. no

3. I would be happy with the "old gang". Furiey and Tone signed up already. :goodjob:

Looks like an interesting challenge, sign me up

1. Emperor under normal conditions and demi-god with a good start
2. All of them 10 + the 2 pre-SGOTM games
3. Any team that needs a handicap

You mean you just declare war but don't enter their territory? That's covered by my first statement. It's the same as a standard MPP.

How MA works? I think BFF members can't go to MA against each other?
Correct. They are locked in an alliance. I've no idea whether there's a price high enough to persuade them, or what would happen if you were able to set up an MPP with one member of an alliance, then trigger that MPP against another. If you want to try it, be my guest :D For reference, there were a couple of similar situations in the recent Civ4 SGOTM 01. In that case, a locked alliance was converted to a locked state of war as a result of such a conflict of interest.

Can we have MA with member of another block?
Yes.

There will be no effect until you attack in the opponent's territory. Then it will be the same as any normal MPP-triggered declaration. You probably know more about this than I do, but since the deal is broken by the other party declaring war, I would imagine your rep is not affected.
