SGOTM 19 - The Trumpster

Well! I played hard ball with the deadline, and The Evil One did his worst (nearly) on the scenario, and you all still managed to finish and win the game

All except Fifth Element chose to Conquer the world, with Also Sprach Sid taking the Gold Laurels, ahead of The Shawshank Redemption with the Silver, and Phoenix Rising with the Bronze.

Fifth Element once more achieved both the slowest victory (Domination) and the lowest score to take the Wooden Spoons.

Penalties are awarded to two teams who missed objectives:

- Apostrophes get 15 turns added to their finish date for one resource not being accessed (not shown in the results listings).

- Misfit Gypsy Nuts finish last for failing the hidden objective (left one city without their Sushi monopoly).

Here are the award winners:

The Team threads are open to all. Read them and weep.

Well done, everyone. :thanx:

Thanks Alan and Kcd for this great competition. Restricted duration is good.

Alan you might want to check
Spoiler :
the icons for the laurels. They say 18 not 19

Thanks. There's always one copy/paste/fail-to-edit error when I do this stuff in a hurry :(

Well done to all the laurel winners... :goodjob:

And thanks to KCD for a fun game.. Even if we (well me mostly) did muck up..

FE decided for conquest too :P We just accidentally got domination after razing last Nap city :P

Congratulations to all teams!

Thanks to AlanH for an invisibly smooth running of the game.

Thanks to kcd for the excellent scenario, on par with Gyathaar's best. I liked everything from the fp to the mystery challenge.

One caveat: The mystery challenge actually penalized beelining Democracy. I assume that wasn't your intention.

I has the WS sensation after i posted my first set (our 3rd), after turn 75. I felt something wrong, but it was already too late.
Congrats to the winners and thanks to kcd fpr an interesting scenario... HC was *a bit* OP, but that's it.

Can we have a Wooden Fork?

Thanks for a great game.

Thanks to KCD and Alanh for all their efforts this game.

Lurker thread seemed to work well.

Well done to all teams for their victories. Congrats to the top laurel winners too.

Thanks to all who participated in SGOTM19. As always, I learn some things watching you guys argue every move. I wished I had more time to follow your threads, but when it comes to Phoenix Rising, there isn't enough time in all eternity.

I'm glad you all had fun, and sorry about some of my own muck-ups some of which some of you discovered, and others... well if you don't know I'm not telling.

It has been fun being your evil mapmaker.

But now its time for something completely different... let's see what Neilmeister has in store.:scan:

Thanks for the map design KCD, it really was excellent!

Two new things that I really enjoyed this SGOTM: The hidden objective, and the lurker thread. I hope they both make a return in the next SGOTM. :please:

The hidden objective didn't run completely smoothly, but I really like the concept. I liked the tension between optimising your play to achieve the "normal" goals, and yet in the back of your mind is the need to reach the trigger tech and have an empire balanced enough to cope with whatever the new goal might be.

I spent a lot of time in the Lurker thread, since MGN finished quite early. I'm pleased we finished early for this reason - hopefully I can convince my teammates to do it again .

Thanks again to KCD for the map and AlanH for the administration of it :goodjob:

Congrats ASS for winning the gold, and everyone for winning the game! :)

Mmm finishing early has its downsides as I think a few teams wondered why our score dropped considerably at the end. Then deduced we were probably whipping executives because of the corporations/hidden objectives. Either that or getting our butts whipped badly..

Thank you AlanH and kcd_swede for the game. The former keeps a strong series going and accommodates to all of our c'a'pri'ces'''' (;)). The latter has kept us entertained for a good while now (4 SGOTMs? bravo!) with his love of mountains (:p).

Congratulations to all teams and players, I won't be able to read through it all but will skim most of your threads. Except Phoenix Rising which I will skim entirely :shifty:

Congratulations to everyone for finishing. And especial thanks to Alan_H, for running the show, and kcd_swede, for designing an excellent and well-balanced scenario: probably the best of the three SGOTMs in which I've played.

Congrats to team ASS for getting the gold laurels... again. Since your mantles are filling up with gold, maybe something silver, bronze or wooden would help round it out... ;)

Thanks AlanH and kcd_swede for another smooth running and entertaining scenario.

Thanks for yet another excellently administered competition, AlanH! :goodjob:

Kudos go out kcd_swede for a wonderfully entertaining and well-designed scenario!

Congrats go out to Also Sprach Sid and Phoenix Rising for truly impressive games!

Good job to every player for your hard work and efforts to achieve cooperation, collaboration, and fun! Let us hope that we can all look back with fond memories of this time and can all feel that the fun and enjoyment far exceeded the trials and tribulations. :)
