Next patch anticipation thread

Never has a thread on an Internet forum made me this curious about the person behind a username as this thread has made me curious just what kind of a creature is Eagle Pursuit...

I dont want to derail the patch but this is very interesting read
http://www.pcgamer.com/jon-shafer-c...-civ-v-explains-how-at-the-gates-will-differ/

He states that with 1UPT that the map size should be almost 4 times bigger to not bog down on production and waiting. Also to code the map gen to make bigger and less common bottle necks

Sort of an interesting subject, but can't for the life of me understand why you'd post it in this thread.

I'm probably in the minority here, but I really don't like playing with mods. To me they're the gaming version of Fan Fiction.

75% agree. Ideally I want to start adding mods when I want something refreshing in my game that I've played for a long time already. With Civ6 we're talking about needing mods & modding tools just to make the basic game right. That isn't cool in my book.

I can see where you're coming from. To be honest, I haven't had a whole lot of time to play 6 yea anyhow, and from the sounds of it there's a lot of "fixing" that needs to come yet anyhow. Hopefully this follows 5, where (and I know that people don't agree and don't want to start this here) by the end it was super fun.

Doesn't that start after this patch comes out. :p
Well, it kind of feels like we're in a weird limbo because of the fact the patch has been announced, but not quite released. This is more the HYPE phase of this patch, so we could start the anticipation for the next one :mischief:

Chubby, married, kids, white guy, mid-30s engineer who refreshes a webpage every few minutes and writes down any changes on a forum. I keep my own spreadsheet on Civ 6 because I'm that kind of nerd. My predictions aren't better than anyone else, I just log and interpret data. I'm not particularly special.

Logging and interpreting data is more or less the human superpower. Simply by virtue of existing, you are special :)

So is 330 Hours in a game a fair number? I was just looking at my total time in Civ VI and I do love playing it (330) so far. However my time in Gal Civ III dwarfs that, at 1262 hours..sheesh...

Looking forward to the patch. Eagle you are doing great work.

I called it too early. I bet this patch isn't anywhere near ready and it's gonna be Friday and the earliest. Just too much updating going out to roll out that quick

I think its a bit more then no where near ready, they are doing a stream today showing off the game, and presumably some of the changes made in the patch.

Sounds like me. Minus the spreadsheet and engineering part lol.

My thoughts exactly. If the Aussy Summer ends on Tuesday, my money is the patch/DLC comes out Tuesday. I am still thinking its gonna be two civs, one scenario.

I've been in too many looping semantic arguments to not come down hard on the moving of goalposts, perceived or otherwise. Sorry that you felt I was being (unnecessarily) aggressive.

Certainly, it was more than one poster, and I didn't want to single any one out as that could incite worse behaviour. Voice acting is a complicated business and it could have actually been done ahead or time, or they could've booked a repeat appointment. Certainly considering how unionised VAs are compared to most other aspects of the industry, coming back to record new lines would possibly be more profitable, and thus a preferable goal r.e. negotiations.

The contracts can be complicated indeed.... but the actual process of recording is fairly straightforward and easy to do these days. There are even mobile recording studios that go to the voice talents now. It wouldn't surprise me one bit if they have a retainer type contract with Sean Bean to have ongoing recording sessions. Certainly, if they knew ahead of time they likely had him record much of the content ahead of time though. I don't think we have a way to know what the contract was or whether the new content / DLC was recorded ahead of time or more recently.

Based on my theory that the 2Kqa build leads the Mac/Linux builds, they might be done. I think they had to rush to solve an issue on the 2K qa build last night (tight deadline?), but since they are updating the Mac and Linux qa builds now, they must be satisfied with that version. Just a little more testing on Mac and Linux and they're done.

So, would that mean a forecast release after the livestream today or tomorrow?

I'm excited! Anybody know what they meant in their patch announcement about 'obsolete units'?

Does that mean making underpowered units more appealing, or is it actually a tweak to what happens when your units are a full era behind and need to be upgraded? Any thoughts?

I'm leaning towards tonight or tomorrow.
