Nfl 2006

The scales are tipped in Cowboy favor (on this forum), though. :smug:

Tiki is far more crucial than Eli, IMO. When you complete only 53% of your passes, you need to improve. Tiki, on the other hand, is a great back.

The Giants and the Mets with a chance to goto the big game in each league...I feel like it's 1986 all over again. :)

Not going to happen, IMHO...
Don't know about the Mets (don't like baseball) but the Giants aren't good enough to go to the Superbowl. Eli's inconsistent. Until he starts completing about 60% of his passes he's just another Michael Vick (but with less legs and more arm), so the Giants are in the same boat as the Falcons. Good team, but the QB's holding them back. And the Giants' secondary is still suspect. (but maybe they can camouflage that with their great DE's generating loads of pass-rush...)

Somebody was bound to represent Big Blue here, might as well be me. :D

Let's not forget that last year was Eli's 2nd year as a pro, and the first year which he started from game 1. Despite that, he still produced more TD's than INT's (24-17) and his 24 TD's were tied for 4th in the NFL among QB's. Eli struggled towards the end of the season, or else his stats would have been much better. For a 2nd year QB, he did a good job in my eyes. Does he need to improve his consistency ? Sure he does. Can he do it ? He better ! :D

And yes, Tiki is a great back, and has been for a few years now. But he is getting up there in age, and Brandon Jacobs looks to be the man to add a different dimension to the running game this year, and hopefully reduce some of the load on Tiki's shoulders.

It should be a good battle for the NFC East this year.

I still remember Jacobs fumbling on the 1 yard line last year in the game in Dallas...that cost them the game too.

I don't even know if he can be better than Ron Dayne was...

His only fumble of the year. Tiki had major fumbling problems in his past, but he got over it.

Maybe so, but to assume Jacobs is the answer wouldn't be wise. Has he looked really good this preseason?

He's looked great since last year. A big RB who has both power and speed. When looking at his stats from last year, you have to keep in mind that he was primarily used a short yardage RB. Besides that untimely fumble against the Cowboys, he was effective in that role.

Cowpokes and Bledsoe looked extra good last night  in all facets of the
game.... where are you Azale? :scan: Then again the 'aints looked extra weak
for a second game.

Yeah, Bledsoe looked very sharp in his first pre-season game. I'm just hoping for TO to do to the Cowboys what he did to the Eagles last year. :D

I doubt anything is going to happen as Parcells knows how to deal with "troubled" superstars (see LT), but it sure doesn't hurt to hope !

What, he plans to pump T.O. full of drugs ?:mischief:

Somehow, I think crack/cocaine would probably make TO even worse to deal with. It certainly won't shut him up, that's for sure.

Most Cowboy fans expected a big win in NO. It isn't a huge deal to alot of us. Both Bledsoe and Romo were playing, so how could we lose to them?

The only interesting part is they opened up their playbook a bit (big pre-season no-no).

Bledsoe looked good and it shut up the idea of a quaterback "controversy" pretty quickly. Terry Glenn looked incredible too, several amazing catches including the one with one hand BEHIND McKenzie for the touchdown.

The defense looked even better. I like the rotation we could potentially have, and it would really help our problems in closing out games last year.

If we had had Vanderjagt last year, we probably would have gotten a first round bye. Kickers have been a big problem for the Cowboys, probably moreso than any other position over the last 5 years. Billy Cundiff was the best guy we had for a while and we cut him last year at one point.

I was impressed, usually we start the preseason pretty flat. Like last year, and the year before specifically.

Couple of things:

Vandy has not been up to speed, and that is getting on my nerves.

TO is not bothering me at all (or the Tuna).

Falcons get Lelie, Redskins get Duckett.

On the Redskins side, I see no reason for a deal. We've got quality back ups in Cartwright and Betts, and Portis is talking about playing in Week 1. It means we're probably going to cut Cartwright, one of my favorite players on the Redskins.

@AlCosta - On the Football Outsiders board, there was a lot of speculation
that Portis' injury is much more severe than anyone has let on. Is anyone
in DC saying that?

I feel like he will be back early, but the shoulder could be in danger of getting
hurt again very easily.

I haven't seen that yet. Everybody's in Washington is wondering if this could be the Larry Johnson to Priest Holmes (Clinton Portis.) Personally, I think it's for insurance in case Portis does get injured severly when he comes back. He's in his last year under contract too.

Cowboys giving up on Drew Henson--too bad, he was a good QB in college, those 3 years in Baseball killed him
