Nfl 2006

heh - a skins fan and a cowpokes fan dukin' it out :p i love it :D

randle-el is a nice player. just not a go-to guy. wash definitely overpaid for him though imo. i think snyder is the biggest bufoon owner in the whole nfl (jones being a close 2nd). i think the biggest question mark is brunnell. can he do what he did last yr in '06? i remain skeptical...

the giants are the team to beat in the east imo. don't forget about the eagles though...they're going to be back in the fold again this yr. i ain't predicting any super bowls or anything but i guarantee that they'll make it tough for the the entire division.

Who does Dan Snyder not overpay?

I'd say the order in the NFC East is the Giants, Cowboys, 'Skins, and then Eagles.

no doubt in my mind that wash is worst of the lot. i'd bet one of my mortgage payments that the eagles finish ahead of wash.

PS-snyder is a ruinous owner who has no clue how to wrok the salary cap. he's awful...

tough division  , they might just beat each other up :hammer: .

Jerry Jones can be a great owner. He has made some great moves like signing Parcells, Jimmy Johnson, and essentially letting them run thier team the with the players they want. Owens could be viewed as a really smart move if the Cowboys win a Superbowl or get close.

He has also made some bad moves. You do not...EVER...trade 2 number 1 picks for a wide reciever. Especially when the reciever is as one dimensional as Joey Galloway was. The fact that he suffered a season ending injury one game into the season didn't help matters. Also, sticking with Dave Campo through three straight 5-11 seasons. Signing Ryan Leaf and letting the guy START. Barry freakin Switzer, Chan freakin Gailey. Drafting Quincy Carter in the second round when most projected him as a second day pick, and then making him your quaterback of the future...dumping Tony Banks in training camp. Then, signing Chad Hutchinson.

So, I think overall, he is good, but has made bad mistakes. To be fair, they were all bad mistakes in an effort to make the Cowboys a better team. It's better than most owners.

I liked Jones until he signed T.O.- how could he after he mocked the entire
team and fans with the 'star' deal. Unless they win the Superbowl I
feel like he will regret it. Also Dave Campo might be one of the worst head
coaches ever, besides that guy with a last name K, wasn't he with the Jets?

The Tuna just went nuts on the Cowboys in Training Camp, and the entire team (inlcuding other coaches and trainers) felt it. They thought he was hard on them before. Man, they were wrong. Dead wrong.

Believe it or not, that is a positive thing.

Strict discipline in training camp usually results in early set-backs, because the team is just a lot tireder than the less intensely trained teams, but in the mid-to-late season the team really blossoms. (Unless it falls prey to injuries.) The only issue with that approach with the Cowboys is that early set-backs might trigger the T.O. factor...

Rich Kotite?

Parcells has made it work and has coached some T.O. types before. DOn't let yourself think Glenn and Bledsoe are really great guys. Without Parcells they just ran around and cried on the Pats. Under Parcells they are a team. I don't know how but Pacrells knows how to manage any player. I won't be surprised if T.O. never blows up or only does it once. You notice Keyshawn rarely lost his cool. Parcells handles all players differently and in training camp he makes them earn their spot. No for sure starters. Thats how he gets the best of his players.

Rich Kotite...ahh, good times. 1-15.

But Dave Campo just seemed inept all the way around. The offenses were continually horrid. You KNOW things are bad when the former BENGALS offensive coordinator was the "big" hire (back when the Bengals were...well, the Bengals). West coast offense my arse...Tony McGee & Darnay Scott do not a good offense make.

There was somebody worse than any other coach ever in the history of the game, and his name was Steve Spurrier.

"It's better to throw an interception than take a sack."

Kotite, that's him ;) --- absolutely nothing went right for Campo, but mostly
it was his own fault. :mischief:

Dave Campo "Well we didn't have a good practice today. So let's all relax and go to Sea World."

He is a brilliant collegiate coach though. I think he coached DUKE to an ACC Championship. Chew on that one for a second.

He also led Florida to become one of the winningest programs ever, when he got there it was pretty bad. He is now doing the same with South Carolina, where Lou Holtz failed to do much of anything.

It just didn't transfer to the NFL. Especially when he insisted on bringing his old Florida quaterbacks back...Danny Wuerffel  ...I almost felt bad for the Redskins. Almost.

He was, but it certainly did not translate. Danny Wuerfell being the prime example. BTW, I saw a Danny Wuerffel jersey on clearence at FedEx Field last season. I was very tempted to get it. :p

Hah, I saw a guy in my school once...in SOUTHERN TEXAS...wearing a Tim Couch jersey. Stylish too.

I want to see if they have any Leaf jerseys from when he played with the Cowboys, heheheh

The Giants first team looked extremely sharp against the Chiefs last night. Defense was also very solid in pitching the shutout.

If the Giants can make it through the first 3 games of the season with a 2-1 record, they'll be well on their way to another NFC East crown (barring an injury to Manning).

The Giants and the Mets with a chance to goto the big game in each league...I feel like it's 1986 all over again. :)

Ahh, good, a Giants fan to complete the NFC East quadfecta (?).

Yep, me ('Skins), you (Cowboys), El Justo (Eagles), and now marioh (Giants). I feel some nice NFC East debates coming up.
