Nitpicky Things You'd Like Fixed

Destroy the "Your units are close to our borders, move them or die" message from AI. Seriously, that is such a stupid (and sometimes seemingly random) remark, I hate hate HATE it.

I actually like this as a feature, and would prefer it if it were expanded so that a human player can say to an AI "Hey, whatcha doin' with that army you got right next to my borders there?"

That's what I hate the most. If I have four units by the AI's borders it gets insanely paranoid. If the AI has 15 units by my borders, I'm not allowed to complain.

The Statue of Liberty should be a wonder only allowed to be built on coastal cities and should appear out in the water. It looks weird to see the Statue of Liberty in the middle of a city.

Also please, Fireaxis, add an infoaddict-like tool.

I agree about the Statue of Liberty!

As for the infoaddict-like tool, I mean I like infoaddict, but I think it gives far too much information about the other civs......some things are good, for example, current DoF's and trade between other nations seems reasonable, but knowing another civ's exact military strength at any given point seems a bit much..........

If you're not planning to declare war on them, it's not a problem now is it? "Just passing through" and as long as you don't declare war and hold true to your word there are no repercussions.

As annoying as the feature is, it's a good way to allow the AI to force you into declaring war on their turn and react, if you were going to declare war. Because the worst thing you can do is say you're not going to war, then go to war the next turn.

However, yeah, I wish we could also do it when we know for sure the AI is about to declare war. That'd let US react first. Should go both ways.

What I'd like to see is an overhauled Advisor system, because the Advisors do have useful information to give; it's just buried under a ton of useless crap.

  • First, add an Advisor button to the top right of the screen, alongside the Espionage, Social Policy, Tourism (in BNW), and Diplomacy buttons.
  • On any setting, whenever there is an unread message, the Advisor button starts to glow. Purple for Diplomatic Advisor, Yellow for Financial, Red for Military, and Blue for Science. If multiple Advisors have new notifications, the button will turn the color of the advisor with the most urgent unread notification.
  • The advisor screen itself is a sortable list of all notifications still in effect. The list contains one-line summaries of all notifications, like "Producing Lots of Research", "Mongolia is Extremely Powerful", and the like.
  • You can use the buttons at the top of the Advisor Screen to filter out messages from certain advisors and sort by most recent, by subject, or marked as Urgent (see below). For instance, by filtering out all but the Military Advisor's notifications, and sorting by subject, you will get your military standing with all other civilizations at a glance, as it lists off all your opponents and which ones are stronger or weaker than you, while not being as overly-revealing as the InfoAddict power graphs.
  • Clicking on any notification expands it, providing further information and advice on the subject at hand. You will also get options to change whether the Advisor Button will notify you of any changes on the situation in that notification. For example, if the notification is "Gandhi is Weaker Militarily", if you are not interested in invading Gandhi at that point, you can specify to only be notified if Gandhi gets stronger, but not weaker, and mark this notification as Not Urgent.

No the advisor system is a dynamic tutorial for newer players. Turning it into an information system too would make it a mess.

Add in info addict but reduce the info.

Give a relationship circle for all civs. That would be color coded and have colors for denouncements and DOFs. Have a list of your Dofs and fix that darned announcement. I swear half my DOFs end without me knowing.

Show the civ's rank in the demographic category. Not the actual numbers just the rank. So India is 6th in literacy. Mongolia is 1st in soldiers. Would allow you to get a sense of who is stronger or weaker. Maybe add in the numbers if you put a spy or diplomat in their civ though that would take time.

Expand intrigue and have it give updates on relations between civs and over time reveal their modifiers toward each other.

Allow you to consult this in diplomatic exchanges so you don't screw up and DOF the wrong civ because you can't keep track of 8 civs diplo that you have to dig to find out, and is mostly hidden.

- All the misnomers, not super important, but the new exploration policy tree is bugging the hell out of me already (and the fact that the commerce tree still has a boat graphic)

- The fact that defensive pacts apparently have no impact on diplomacy/DoWs

- Nukes are just big bombs without any impact on diplomacy

- Swordsmen are useless and pikemen have a stupid upgrade line (which is why I don't play germany). I feel like swordsmen should be buffed and pikes should have the option to either upgrade down the musketmen or lancer line.

- Infinite stacking of air units in cities

- Warmongering points for going to war to defend an allied city state you pledged to protect

If Z comes to me asking me to join them in a war against X, if I select "How dare you" I should be given an option to tell X that Z propositioned me to go to war against X.

I just feel like, if you are a Friend of X, you should be able to let them know that Z is looking for partners to start a war with X.

When you ask the AI to stop spreading their religion in your territory and they agree, they should be sincere about that at least for a little while. I've had an AI use a Great Prophet against me literally one turn after promising not to.
On the "move your troops from our borders" thing, there should be a "you kept your promise" system similar to promising not to expand near another civ. Currently it feels like agreeing to move your troops also prohibits you from waging an honorable war against that civ ever again, even if it's centuries later with a whole different army.

I'd like to be able to do this pre-emptively, too. The "please don't dump your missionaries everywhere" option only become available after they've done it once, which might be too late for certain cities.

The "Beliefs" section of the "Religion Overview" is terrible. All the different beliefs of all the different religions are just jumbled all together. All the corresponding beliefs should be grouped together by religion.

Add an option to keep city info visible when the camera zooming out in Strategic View..

Then click "Sort by Religion", which lists the religions in alphabetical order. (Pantheons are lsited by the nation which they are (i.e Greek Pantheon, Dutch, Pantheon, American Pantheon)
