No Foreign Trade Routes?

I'm currently playing a One City Challenge game and just cannot make my city establish foreign trade routes.
Is there some tech / building I need so that these are being enabled?

It's a coastal city and I do have Astronomy, as do my neighbours, and my civics (and those of a few other AI players I've checked) do not prevent foreign trade routes.
Of course I also have Open Borders and Free Trade agremeents.

They just don't show up. Is there something I'm missing?

Two things.

1. One City Challenge is not really balanced or supported, and so that could possible cause wierdness with trade.
2. Check your civics to see if any of them say "No Foreign Trade" or something to that effect.

I did.

I love how you name your saves! It's helpful to keep them organized for me. I'll take a look later and see what I can find.

Is there smoething that might block the routes? Barb cities, ships or Civs you or your trading partners are at war with?

Not that I am aware of.

However I've since retired from that game and started a new non-OCC game. Foreign trade routes are working fine there, so it may very well be connected to the one city challenge (and the absence of domestic trade routes).
