I stoped to come here a fews weeks ago because the site was full of spyware, like doubleclick, avenue a inc, and so on.

These are not harmless cookies, they are recognise as spyware by spybots search and destroy and they create problem on computer.

Spybots have a built in blocker, that tell you which site is infected, and unfortunatly, CFC was one.

So i stoped coming here, but today, i tryed it again, and it seem that no more spyware are trying to infect my computer.

So, can you confirm to me, that no more spyware will be DL on my computer from CFC, so i can come here again and read/post ?

I had a few things that I noticed were blocked a couple of days ago on CFC...

Forget what i said, after 45 minutes browsing on CFC forum, i suddently got a warning from spybots.

The spyware ''mediaplex'' have tried to infect my computer.

So those spyware do not immediatly DL when you connect to the home page, but later on as you browse the forum pages.

Dont ask why you had bad forum performance latley.

Sadly i think i ll go back into the fourth dimension for a few again, As long as there is spyware attack.

Who know what else they are using, i have to update spybots each week.

Edit, lol, immediatly after i submit this post, avenue A inc tryed to infect me again. crap.

Edit 2: and now double click, and my keyboard is slower, so i quite right away to clean the mess.

Spybot search and destroy has an immunisation tool that seems to automatically block these things for me... For instance two things have been blocked when these page opened.

What? I don't have any problems and I don't get spyware detected on my system.

Yes, same for me, but who know what else they are using, spybots only detect know spyware, they can easily tryed to create a new one that stay undetected for a few days/week.

So i dont want to take anychance.

Erik, Do you use explorer like me, if so DL spybots and perform a scan, you will be surprise of the ammount of crap that some site tryed to infect you.

It should be a reasonably low risk since it would be hoped that new spyware would be used elsewhere first and you can always get spyware from simply installing something.

OK, i got probably a new undetected spyware on my computer, coming from this site.

I would like to know how to remove it, because my connection is slower now, and it keep sending small amount of data , even when explorer is close.

When i restated my computer after cleaning it with ad-aware and spy bots, i connected to my ISP ( 56 k modem). When i double click on the modem icon, it tell you numbers. Data send and data receive.

Usualy those number stay fix after i connect, like 525 octet send (byte??) and 1736 octet receive.

But after a few minutes ( 2-3) those number increase to 1006 send and 2266 receive, then it stop and restart after a few minutes.

If i tryed to play on line game, i lag like hell now, it is unplayable.

I called my ISP for technical help, and they said its probably a new spyware, i dont have a fire wall to block it and spy bots do not detect it for now, so i cant clean it.

I didnt went to any other site except CFC and Vavle ( gaming site which host by a compagnie, they dont have any spyware in there forum/site ).

So, Mediagramm, hugo , whatever, what is this damn crap and how can i remove it.

Tassadar, I think you are far too paranoid. ;) Mediaplex is not a spyware -- it's just a cookie from ad banners. It's harmless, like lots of other cookies.

Just check out this page and you will see the danger level of Mediaplex is all the way to the left.

It's not something you need to worry about. But if you really want to remove it, just clear your cookies folder. You can also change your browser's cookies setting to only allow certain sites to set cookies.

Thunderfall, there is at least 3 know spyware detected on CFC. I am no computer expert.

1.- Mediaplex

2.- Avenue A inc

3.- Doubleclick

And variable amounts of ad, which fortunatly ad-aware clean up pretty fast.

So tell me why my computer was exanging data ( everything was close, exept my internet connection) with an unknow after i came here ?

Why i was so laggy in on line multiplayer ?

The problem with spyware programs is they want their users to feel insecure, so they want to show as many results as possible in the scan, and consider harmless cookies from ad banners as "spyware". The more afraid computer users are, the more software they sell.

Mediaplex, Avenue A inc, and Doubleclick are all ad agencies, with DoubleClick being the biggest. All of them use cookies. As you can see from this page, the danger level for Avenue A is also lowest possible. Same thing for DoubleClick.

You will get cookies like that by visiting any site that contains advertising.

What you should really worry about are malicious spywares that install program to your system without your permission, change registry keys, or change your browser settings w/o your knowledge.

I would say it's your 56K modem connection. It's not fast enough for online gaming, especially if you play more demanding games such as Half-Life online. Also, if you try to play MP games with broadband users, you will experience lots of lags.

So, if I stop doing all these scans, the [expletive deleted] currently on my computer will eventually go away/stop functioning/stop bothering me?

EDIT: & congrats on your 7,000th post. ;) :goodjob:

I would advise getting at least one of the free firewalls...

I got a U.S. robotics modem and i play half life mod since 6 year, and i got usualy about 200-250 ping without lag peak, yes even a shooter with 16 human on line, my ping can increase a little over 16 peron, but still playable.

Yesterday morning , i play without problem, but after i came here, something was sending data while i was playing, which create the lag.

I came here again, suspecting that the cookies/spyware needed to somehow finish its job. I tryed again to play on line and everything was fine, no more lag.

So my guess is something was active without my knowledge.

Thunderfall, is it possible that those cookie send information when we are not on CFC ?

It could just have been a bad connection... The server that you were playing on may have been overloaded.
