Not-So-Useful units, buildings, GPs and wonders

Norwegian Olympic Curling Team (Not-So-Useful unit)

curlingpants.jpg

+1  in every city in the region watching Winter Olympic Games (Not-so-useful event) on TV.
If Norway wins the final:
+10  in the Canadic civ (if modded in).
+10 :) in the Viking civ.

Facebook Group

Event: Island Dispute.

Requires Astronomy, Nationalism; island near cultural borders of any of civs involved, island area mapped, contact with civs involved.

An island group containing important resources has been sighted by our explorers. However, several other nations are claiming the territory as theirs. What should we do?

1. Assert our claim to the island. (-5 relations with other civs involved, gain strategic and seafood resource, +1 :) in all your cities)
2. We do not want any conflict. We do not need the island's resources anyway. (+2  in all your cities, random civ from involved civs obtains resources)
3. Requires UN to be built: Plead our case before the United Nations General Assembly (10% chance to gain strategic and seafood resource, +2 :) in all cities. 30% chance for +3  in all your cities, random civ from involved civs obtains resources. 60% chance for dispute to continue, -2 relations with civs involved if this happens, does not stack each time.)

Specialist: Borg

Happens randomly at any time to any specialist in your city.
Adds +5%:hammers: and +5%:science: to the specialist, but -10 culture and +1 .
Each borg has a 75% chance of turning another person in your city into another borg.

When this happens, you can either Embrace the Borg or Fight the Borg.

Embrace the Borg
All your cities turn into borg, and you can produce borg units (+25% strength, 200% support cost, 50% chance to turn defending unit into borg.) However, all other civs declare permanent war on you.

Fight the Borg:
All your borg cities become hostile, and all other leaders gain +5 relations with you for fighting the borg.

Jean-Luc Picard
50 Strength, 1 Movement
+200% against borg.

I'll have to admit, that's a pretty cool event.

Soviet anti-tank dog (A not-so-useful unique unit for the Russians, historically accurate)

Str 8, +500% against armored units, can only attack friendly units.

National Referendum (Not-So-Useful random event)

Requires: Democracy.

Some examples:

1) Referendum of Banning Minarets
Requires Free Religion. A majority of the people decides that minarets are banned on Islamic Mosques in your civ.
+3  attitude towards you in all Islamic civs.

2) Referendum of Debt Repayment
Requires Icelandic Banks (Not-so-useful corporation). A majority of the people decides that they will not pay the nations debts created by the Icelandic Bankers (Not-so-useful Great Persons).
+3  attitude towards you in all civs that helped you during the Financial Crisis (Not-so-useful event).

3) Referendum of Alcohol Prohibition
No terrain effect or bonuses from wine.
Disables Winery.
Randomly +1 to +3  in all cities from crime.

Icelandic Bank (Not-so-useful Unique Building.)

Runs up a tremendous debt which forces you to mortgage *everything* to the other civs.

Swedish Green Party (Not-so-useful Unique Unit)

Hates nuclear power so much that it forces you to buy very expensive coal power from other countries instead.

Greece (Not-so-useful vassal) Has to be rescued from its own economic incompetence all the time, or else your own civilization will go down too.

Swedish Porno Movies (Not-so-useful corporation unless you are Swedish)

All other civs have to pay lots of money to the producing country, and their economic output *and* birthrate tank because everybody just sits around watching porn all the time.

Robert Mugabe (Not-so-useful leader)

Special traits: not financial and not industrious. No other civ wants to vassalize his civ and will go to war with anyone who suggests they should.

Whales (Not-so-useful resource)

You aren't allowed to exploit it, and the area where the whales live is so infested with Greenpeace ships checking that everyone complies with the ban that ordinary fishing boats can't work there.

German Humorist (Not-so-funny Great Person)

No one in your civ will ever laugh again.

French Humorist ( -making Great Person)

All your research facilities are tied up trying to figure out the point of the jokes.

National Referendum (Not-So-Useful random event)

Requires: Democracy.

Some examples:

1) Referendum of Banning Minarets
Requires Free Religion. A majority of the people decides that minarets are banned on Islamic Mosques in your civ.
+3  attitude towards you in all Islamic civs.

Ah but it decreases the chance of your state religion being switched permanently to Islamic theocracy and the emancipation civic being locked out and unavailable forever.

Ah but it decreases the chance of your state religion being switched permanently to Islamic theocracy and the emancipation civic being locked out and unavailable forever.

It does, however, increase the chance of your state religion being switched permanently to Christian theocracy or fanatical atheism and habeas corpus being suspended forever.

It also increases the chance of alien invasion

Islamic Missionary (Not-So-Useful unit)

-50 % chance of spreading religion. While other missionaries just walks into a city an starts doing whatever they do to convince the people living there, the Islamic missionary first must find a tower of some kind. I suppose to chant from the top of it or something. Nevertheless, that's the reason why the Swiss Referendum of Banning Minarets (Not-So-Useful random event) really has an effect. In the game of Civ, that is.

Patriot Missile Launcher (Building)

Has a 65% chance to intercept friendly fighters in a 3 square radius.

Facebook (wp)

+10:mad:in all cities without The internet.

Units can only leave a city for 1 turn Without Satelites.

1+:) In all cities when another civ is Friendly

1+:yuck: In all cities with The internet.

Obsoletes with "a Life"

Saab Automobile
-25%:gold: In The city its built in

-25%:gold: In Detroit if the city is founded.

Obsoletes after 10 turns is Netherlands is not in the game

+5:) If Netherlands is in the game

Moses Not-so-useful Great Person

Can take any number of units across one sea square without using a boat, after which the units wander around randomly for forty years until they settle down in a place without resources. Can lightbulb a religion.

1 turn? Not that long.
