Nuke Nes: After Victoria

Well the West is becoming increasingly industrial, especially Utah and Colorado. As they are seeing an population and industry boom.

The Midwest will never become industrial mainly becuase America needs the crops from that area.

mrpwn3r: Sure, here are some brownie points. ;)

OOC: But thats the point industrialization is a part of cities not the country side. So having huge amounts of empty agricultural land is going to slow down industrializing the whole nation. Remember until very recently the Southern United States wasn't really industrialized except for certain cities. Alabama and Mississippi are still some of the poorest parts of the country.

But they did industrialize..... Not every inch of the US will become industrialized. I am just saying that Russia has potential to become as powerful as the US if they work at it. Also Alabama and Mississippi and most of the south are very behind and many of our techs, like electricity, internet, and even a Wal-Mart. (no offense to those who are hillbilly's or in the south. Also the people I am talking about are mostly deep in the mountains where industry will never succeed.)

St. Petersburg, Moscow, Vladiostock and others are already industrialized, but they need to move to smaller towns and areas that do not yield high crops and people will follow the goods.

But it takes years, considering that Russia was an industrial powerhouse during the cold war, but they failed to modernize which the US did. So that is what I am trying to say, if Russia can learn from US industrial might they can match or dare I say, pass the US as the world most powerfull industrial nation.

OOC: But what I am saying is the economic prosperity you see in America isn't universal. Also I am not really sure if the south is industrialized. Texas is basically the same as all those Middle Eastern Countries that will go bankrupt in 50 years when their is no Oil. The same goes for Louisiana. From what my friend tells me of Mississippi its even worse. In all of the south I don't know one state thats famous for making something just growing things.

I have got a feeling that everyone won't see an update until tomorrow.

Some parts of the South are very industrialized, like Florida for example.
Even Georgia's capital, Atlanta, is forming into the business headquarters for MOST major American companies.

So it's a bit far-fetched to say that the South isn't industrialized.

However, I agree with you, Demetrias, that the south is more relatively famous for growing crops, more than industry.

Allright, Texas is pretty industrialized, just not in the way you think it should be....

Texas relies on the cattle trade, oil, and high tech indusntries. I mean Texas leads the nation in many high tech productions. I can list some if you want, but you can find them on Texas' main website.

And to say that the south is not very industrialized is not too far from the truth, but you have to realize is the north is too not very industrialized. You have to look at this state to state.

Maine is not an industrial state, niether is Missisippi or Alabama, and in the west, Wyoming, Montana and possibly New Mexico and Arizonia. The latter being becuase it is too hot and would waste water if we place too many plants there.

But look at Idaho, and Utah, several years ago they were just small states that made no difference on the national stage. But since industry moved in, and no not to Salt Lake, Ogden or St George, but smaller cities like Logan, Fillmore, and even Tremonton saw increases in industrial output and population boomed, in Logan alone, the population went from 30,000 to 70,000 in just 3 years. If that is not industry then I don't know what is.

Again you have to look at where and what industries make up the production of the nation;
Coco-Cola is based in Atlanta Georgia and is the one of the biggest industries in the world.
Tropicania is based in Floridia and is one of the nations leading orange juice producers.
We have coal mines in Virginia.
Steel factories in Penn.
Cattle in Texas.
Oil in Alaska.
Sunscreen in Hawaii. (joke of course.)
Salt in Utah.
Airplanes in Washington.
Cars in Michigan.
Cheese in Wisconson.
Paper in Alabama.
Shipyard in Mississippi. (Also Industries overtook farming in this state in 1965. Quote below.)
Among many others......

In 1936 Mississippi began a program to promote the expansion of manufacturing, and in 1965 the state's industrial employment exceeded the number of agricultural workers for the first time. The state's major manufactured goods include forest and chemical products. The Ingalls Shipyard, at Pascagoula, is the state's largest employer.

By the way orders are coming in about 30 minutes.

Orders away. Good luck with the update. :goodjob:

woot, only Russia and France are missing

Industrialization it is not correlated directly to location. It is more correlated with location of resources. The first industrial cities were located near rivers, because water played an important role. As the need to move goods became more important, the next move was to port cities and other good location for transportation hubs. Today labor costs and facility upkeep are more important. Hence, the move from heavily unionized older factories in the Rust Belt to non-unionized newer facility in rural areas.

Given the time period of this NES, I would say developing a dense transportation network is the key to industrialization of a region.

I got dragged away to a basketball game that I had to play at. The upshot is that orders will be probably turned in tomorrow. Sorry.

If I miraculously manage to get my homework finished at a decent hour, orders may come tonight.

I don't think France will turn in orders.

Start the update once Lightfang turns in his orders!

It has been started at least :p

Hey, mrpwn3r, wish to make any changes to your signature?

Obama is winning, and it looks as if he will keep the lead. Personally I would prefer Obama over Clinton.

Give us a hint what happens!
:D

Anyways Nuke, when's the Great Depression coming? ;(

No, even though Obama is winning now, I still think Clinton will win due to the public recognition of her last name.

OOC: I thought the lead war marginal at best and that with all those at large delegates she still had a pretty good shot of winning.

No, even though Obama is winning now, I still think Clinton will win due to the public recognition of her last name.

Really her last name.... I shudder to think what Bill Clinton did when he was president..... I doubt it is her name that is gaining the support of the people. I mean she barely won in New York by 30%. Which is a huge difference between California's 40% and Floridias 35%.

Well either way, if Clinton wins, Mcain will become President, but if Obama wins, he could become the next President. Also I promised myself that if Clinton did miracously become President, I will move to Canada. And no I am not kidding, I really will.

Will you still play NESes if you move to Canada? If so then thats cool by me. Ever since I was a little boy I have wanted to go to Winnapeg (though I can't remember how to spell it at the moment.) and recently I have heard good things about Vancouver and Ottawa so I want to visit them.

last time Americans came to Canada for political reasons was 1776.... or nam :p

Now it will be for Clinton. :p

But I do not want to move, so I am really hoping she loses.

Demetris, yes I will still play NESes.
