RICHMOND, Va. (AP) - Barack Obama, caught up in the fervor of a campaign speech Tuesday, drastically overstated the Kansas tornadoes death toll, saying 10,000 had died.
The death toll was 12.

"In case you missed it, this week, there was a tragedy in Kansas. Ten thousand people died—an entire town destroyed," the Democratic presidential candidate said in a speech to 500 people packed into a sweltering Richmond art studio for a fundraiser.

Ooops. I guess thats what you get when you try to politicize a disaster. I wonder how many of these can he survive before people think he is making rookie mistakes?

How does you be knowin' it wasn't just one of 'dem speakin' mistakes like what he ment 2 say wuz 10 but insted he sed 10,000 liek on the accident

Let me guess....that was Hillary at a black church?

We don't know for sure how many people died, because N'awlens is a chocolate city, and chocolate melts away when there's water.

Was that Mayor Nagin that said that?

Naw. Some on CFC actually. There was a little article somewhere were FEMA had ordered 50,000 bodybags so logically it must mean that 50,000 were dead or so some thought.

But its not like Nagin doesn't have plenty of zingers on record already.

Obama must gave you republicans really worried if that is the best you can come up with you will be hurting. The article says he realized the mistake a few minutes after he said it. It is not a "Big Gaffe" but a slip of the tounge that implied nothing about his position. The "wasted lives" that I think both he and McCain said was a worse gaffe as it actually meant something about their thinking.

Whoops, mistakes like that happen all the time. No biggie

So when Bush ****s up in a speech it's no big deal. When the other side does it we be making threads and slapping each other backs, holding our bellies pointing at the rookie, going ho ho ho?

:coffee: Rain? Again?

Bush screws up multiple times and does not apologise for it

Next please

If the number of gaffes you make is a consideration when going for the presidency, then GWB couldn't even take power in Tajikistan.

Hmm, actually if this is his First Gaffe, it's quite impressive. Simular to Bush, who the heck cares about mistakes in speech. They should not be judged on how well they memorize and deliver speeches. No need to apologise except if something really insulting was accidentaly said.

It was a dumb criterea with Bush, it still is. Lets focus on the politics. I hardly get any info from dutch tv about content as it is.

Well, let's just hope he's not off by a factor of three more often. That will make budget recommendations sticky.

I wish someone would overstate my paycheck like that...

I, now, want to work for Obama. :p

article said:
"How could we have been involved in a war that never should have been authorized, that has already cost us half a trillion dollars," Obama said.

Well, he was closer on this number at least ...
