obligatory BNW screenshot thread

However, according to the Civilopedia, Spices can only be found on Jungle, and that appears to be a forest tile.

Interesting. I could swear spices used to also appear in forest, although I've noticed some oddities in G&K. For instance, in my current game oil appeared in forest, quite notable as I am playing Celts and naturally I discovered this resource in a forest next one of my city's...

I see no one's uploaded an avatar version of Pedro yet. So here!

Edit: Sorry, wrong image....

Himalayan Cavalry? Where did that come from? Is that a scenario unit or something with BNW?

I would think it's one of Sukritact's many brilliant homemade icons for mods. Has this given away Tometekh's next new civ?? :p

Nope, not Tometekh's. But yes, it's for a mod. I'm really pleased with this particular one! It's a shame avatars are limited at 100x100 px.

And now you have it as your avatar. Man, you made me think they were gonna add some Central Asian civ for BNW, would've been nice with the Silk Road and international trad eroute focus and all. :p

I wish I had inside info saying we do have a Silk Road civ/scenario, but I don't. I'd probably be in huge trouble if I had leaked something like this from BNW by accident!

Did you really think it was an official icon? I personally thought it was good enough, but that's just me!

@sukritact

I was looking at your icons/maps in your profile.

Those things look professional! Firaxis should give you a job.

:goodjob:

So you do have inside info, nevertheless? :mischief:

Maybe if I were an uber-artist I'd say that on closer inspection I'd say it doesn't look professional, but I'm not - it looks very convincingly like it's from the game, which really surprised me. Back when I was in Civ4 modding it wasn't that easy making icons that fit the game's style, and when I saw the Civ5 icon style I thought it was going to be a lot harder, but I guess modding artists have their ways.

Thanks for the compliment!

Maybe I do, maybe I lied and that icon is actually from BNW. You shall never know! :mwaha:

I find the only way to make decent looking icons is to make everything from scratch. You can base it off photos like the Civ V vanilla scandal, but there's no shortcut in my experience, you'd better get used to the pen tool. (well, perhaps making a model in blender could be considered a shortcut)

Anyway, apologies for hijacking the thread temporarily.

Mmmmkay, these look looked interesting! ;)

G&K screenshot removed (of the Netherland's Polder).....had never seen it before

I agree, and they were great when we got them as polders with the Netherlands in Gods & Kings.
