I assume you meant file size, not pixel size...this one falls into both "limits"

Anti-aliasing Your Transparent Avatars
By Plexus

Tired of making transparent avatars that look like this:

plxaaavatar-trans-noaa.gif
?

Want something that will blend (almost) seamlessly with any forum style?

Well, if you have photoshop, help is within your reach!

All you have to do is put a #DFE0E5 1px outline around your image.

Why #DFE0E5?
Code:
Basic: 5807 71%	16117	16117	16117	227	227	227
Green: 394 4%	772	852	780	193	213	195
Blue: 1116 11%	2046	2145	2673	186	195	243
White: 373 4%	956	960	960	239	240	240
Mac: 724	7%	1736	1736	1736	248	248	248

Avg: 100%	~22300	~22400	~22900	223	224	229
						DFE0E5
Easy as pie.

Wait, what did you mean by "almost" a little while back?

Well, let me demonstrate:

In modern, classic or ancient themes, it looks like this:
plxaaavatar-standard1.gif

Almost seamless, right?

In Turnip Green, we encounter a few problems with the darker of the two tones:
plxaaavatar-tg1.gif

The problems are slightly more pronounced with Dark Blue:
plxaaavatar-db1.gif

Still workable, though.

Pale white looks great, no doubt about that:

Mac OS X, also good:

Inferior OS, however...
...sorry, couldn't resist, it's just my way. ;)

Extreme:

Let's not worry about Extreme, nobody uses it anyways, right? ;)

Actually, those are kinda neat. If I didn't have the Leaf, then I might go for one of those . . .

Ive just Downloaded a trial version of PSP8. I am going to first learn how to use this before I create a tutoral for transparent backgrounds with PSP8.

Maybe something to do with my name, or interests (hoistory of WWII, etc)

@boobah: you need 300 posts to have an own avatar. until that, you need to use the ones found in the gallery on this site...

Boobah might be nonconformist, I think he forgot to log off from a family account...
