Old About Avatar's and How to get one!

Bear with me here, how can I cpen up an image editor?
I think I know how, but can you clarify?

If you don't have an image editor, there are 30 day trials for Paint Shop Pro, and Photoshop. There are full version free or budget solutions aswell.

If you do have an editor, use the PrtSc (Print Screen) button on your keyboard to catch the image you want... open the editor... select Edit > Paste as New Image... then look for crop tool to cut out the part you want to keep. Resize and save.

That's very basic, but I can't explain every hypothetical scenario as that would require writing a manual and I'm probably not qualified for that anyway

How can I make this my avatar?

Go to User CP, then at the right somewhere, it should say Edit Avatar. Click that, then go to the bottom. It should allow you to upload the avatar by clicking browse. Don't forget to copy the picture first then paste it in your paint program.

Yep!
I saved it on my paint (supid microsoft, I'm blaming this on you! ), and got back online! I pressed the browse button, and I couldn't find it!
