does anyone use Photoshop 5.0 limited edition. I'm having a probem converting to a transparancy because it wouldn't allow me to save it to a gif file.

This is what I see:

Was that image originally a .psd or .pdd (photoshop image)? Or is that copied from another?

The only thing I am thinking you can do is to copy the image into a "new" file, and save it that way. Sometimes an "altered" version of certain files (psd, pdd and bmp's) types will not "re-save" from the original as different file types (jpg, gif) i.e. a bmp I was working with yesterday... I altered it in its original form, but could not "save as" into jpg form... I had to copy the entire image and paste into a "new file", then "save as" works :) I know that most of the time I have to copy the .bmp graphic into a new file in order to save it into gif or jpg form (I hate bmp's LOL).

Geeze hope I didn't confuse things even more :crazyeye:

edit: love that graphic by the way ;)

and....if you can't seem to get it to work PM me with the file and I'll look at it from there. I use Photoshop7 but I should be able to view the file ;)

Can anyone make me an avatar out of this picture? One transparent and one none transparent. I'll credit you in my sig. thanks in advance.

Not entirely sure I like the scaled down versions but here they are

I know earlier in this thread we made other "link" images...not sure if they are being used or not...

That did not seem to work either. I can save it as a PSD and move it to another program and save it as a gif but then the background turns to white again.

Can you PM me with the image? I'll take a look

shouldn't matter if "save for web" is there....He should be able to do a "save as" just as easily ;) The file size would probably be too big using the "save as" but it SHOULD save into any file form you want... Just wierd!

OK more clues to the puzzle.

If I open a .gif file in photoshop it will allow me to save it again as a .gif file (it does ask me if I want to save it as interlaced or normal)

If I then copy that onto the transparency (sp?) that I created with photoshop it only allows me to save it as the .psd file

(side note: If i pull the file in as a .jpeg it does not give me the choice to save as a .gif but it will allow .tif and a whole bunch of others)

(note #2) @ Plexus no Save As Web page in site)

Hi guys!

First of all, great work in this thread - I saw Mistfit (in my SGoTM team) got his avatar here, and GK too and was hoping I could get one also, since I'm fast approaching the magic 300...

My question is, how specific do I have to be?

A vague outline would be wanting something to do with ancient warfare (Roman is good) and a white rose... Since I have little artistic flair, I would leave the interpretation up to the artist.

Unti I find something I like, I might use the GB Olympics logo which Mistfit (thanks, mate!) pointed out to me - normally those things are terrible, but this is very cool indeed...

Sorry for the double - when attempting to give myself a custom avatar, under the 'edit avatar' option i do not get the option to upload anything. My two choices are nothing at all or a pre-defined CivIII avatar...

:hmm:

Help!

This is what should be at the bottom of the "not so custom" avatar list

geez youv'e been a busy poster these last couple of days

OK, this is what I see...

P.S. I know I've been busy, but what can I say?? I want an avatar!! :D

EDIT - removed image, as problem fixed and no need to keep it in the thread

You definately had over 300 posts the last time you tried? Otherwise you could try PMing TF or starting a thread in Site Feedback.

Tried it when I had 300, and this thought did occur to me. So I made another post, then tried again. Same thing.

Then I thought, maybe I should log out, then come back. Same thing...

Short of rebooting (!) I am not sure what else I can do...

EDIT - well, it works now. I dodn't do anything, so either there's a short time delay going on, or something magically fell into place. Maybe it was going into "Edit avatar" via the 'Quick Links' section that helped...

Thanks for the help, though, guys!

Maybe TF disabled it for you cause he knows you've been spamming to get there.

Wouldn't that be a kicker? Make you need 1000 or something?

You big meanie! Spamming is a bit harsh! I prefer "enthusiastically posting" ;)

Edit : And this coming from a guy with more posts per day than me... :mischief:
