Onan's Speed-Optimized GMR Game

Grave tidings from abroad!

The Roman senate has passed a motion to investigate the severe time dilations which seem to emanate from the Indian empire. We have sent our scientific teams with their instruments to lob sounding projectiles into the Indian cities, in order to measure the flight time and confirm or deny that the time dilation worsens the further into the Indian empire we progress. These instruments have been accompanied by protective units, in case any of the locals object to our presence. Indeed, some of these 'locals' have already been eliminated, as they impeded our testing.

Never let it be said that the Roman Empire will not stand up for the entire world, in fighting this alien menace to us all!

Well, I was going to mention that I'm using a different computer at work now and can take turns during the day again, as you may have noticed for my last few.

@Siam: Egypt Ramsy would like to know Siamese leader's intention in the recent proposal.

@Russia: Ramsy thinks that cash should be preserved for military purpose in this violent world.

@Songhai: Messenger should not disrupt normal production. He was spared once when two warriors surrounded him and a War Chariot can easily injure him. He was attacked because he stepped inside the border, causing a turn of baby boom delayed. The Siamese messenger just happened to be in the way, but next time he will not get so lucky.

@Roman: Egypt will be neutral towards your recent 'investigation'. We believe a strong and wide spread Roman empire is the best way to prevent Aztec Virus passing the centre of the world.

India is now AI!?

Should that be alerted? Hope that won't kill the game, that will make the Roman assimilation much easier.

The messengers are clearly not in your lands now and yet you choose to attack them while turning a blind eye to the Roman invasion of the hapless Indians. The poor Indian leader has now retreated to his mountain top because he does not want to deal with the destruction of his empire. Yet you choose to attack and kill the Songhai for a trade dispute with the Russians. Clearly the Egyptians are deranged and we Songhai hope that you are next to fall victim to Roman "exploration" parties.

Yeah, sorry guys. I figured if the concern is that I'm holding up the game, I'll just save everyone the trouble of waiting. Especially since I won't last more than a few more turns anyway.

Songhai leader should take his turn before saying that his messenger is attacked again. Your messenger is safe, but Ramsy suspects he will steal a worker whenever he spots an opportunity. Therefore, he will be closely watched.

As for the Roman match into the Indian land, Egypt still pays for their protection, and we will not interfere until the deal runs out. Although Egyptians are not supporting the 'investigation', it's better that Roman can take control of the Indian land instead of the Aztec, who is that close to invade India any time.

Perhaps Songhai leader wants some bite in the cake as well but lack of the muscle to do that?

Tic-tac-toe.

Don't forget to invite me to the party [party]:vomit:

 the emotion is so cute.

Aztec and Roman can have party first, if Aztec is not happy about the Roman-Indian Empire soon to be born. Ramsy will get some defensive army up quickly to stay alive in this world.

Nothing personal, species0. It's a natural step for me to take in the game at this juncture. Speeding up the game was just gravy (and good material for propaganda). :king:

We will treat your subjects well. Those that survive.

So far I've only seen a spear and two archers in the Indian guards, and one of those has fallen into the time hole. I won't detail my own forces, but India is pretty clear about his prospects against those forces already evident to him.

If there's not more units around, he's right, the delay caused by a human general probably would only amount to a turn or two. Hopefully this is a useful MP lesson for future games!

Hmn, realised you retired without even seeing your turn. Dunno if you'd have any desire to, but if Mel can put you back in and you'd like to resist, I have no problem with that. I'd rather you stayed in the game till you're ready to leave, rather than feeling like I was saying you should leave.

That's alright, I don't need to see it. I never stood a chance anyway: my cities had virtually no production (and no tiles to work for production) and I'm just a casual Civ V player. I really don't know anything about competitive multiplayer.

Also, yes, it is possible for Mel or I to put people into games like that.

That's alright, everyone has to start somewhere. Definitely, since you were out on the plains with animals around, making stables a priority is the only way to get some decent production up. Islandia has a similar start, and he's managed to make himself the production leader for some time. Production rules in MP.

Yeah I would trade my capitol for his second city. 5 cattle and a horse! :wow: Guess I will just play with the hand I was dealt.

We Songhai see the Russians spying on our cities and eyeing them covetously. It is a good thing that we do not trust those shifty Russian traders!

(OOC) Great Plains is just not a very fair map at all, and while I'm happy to play it in this "fun" game, it's not very useful for competitive play. I was remarking to Onan earlier that I find it rather funny and a little bit sad that the only two players who have early access to iron are the most militaristic of the group (Onan and Tabarnak). And to be frank, probably two of the better players in this game. They are clearly playing the hand they are dealt as well better than some of us :)

I have had to play a very defensive game (which is not my usual playstyle) of teching to horsemen asap and using them along with archers to defend against swordsmen (which cost the same as horsemen and are categorically better for city taking).

Of course there is some element of "grass is greener" syndrome here at work as well, because just as you would have traded your capitol for my second city, I would have gladly started where you did to start with a protected border along the edge of the map and enough trees to chop to mass produce early buildings and units, and of course I would have traded both these spots for one with Iron which is *almost* a necessity in competitive multiplayer.

I am still obviously enjoying this game and look forward to seeing how it turns out. Thanks to species_0 for playing and unluckily for him being stuck near Onan.

@Siam: Egypt Ramsy would like to know Siamese leader's intention in the recent proposal.

Nothing too serious . Our scouts have heard stories about the Oracle in Thebes and they have been curious to hear the previsions of the priestess who work there . Maybe the priestess can tell about the future of this world as well .

@ Songhai: Egypt has irons, if Ramsy chose to hook it up early. Animals as production are better than mines in general, for example, plain horse tile yield 1F4H early with stable, hills on the other hand yield 0F3H or 2F2H1G at best till CS, chemistry is too far in tech.

@ Siam: Egypt Empire is wide open, as the culture border does not close the gap between cities. Egypt cities are hidden and well protected by mountains, so the less information the outside world knows, the less likely Tomb raiders will act.

@ Roman: Egypt would like to send a quick triage team to Indian territory to conduct humanitarian assistance. Will Roman general approve such necessary measure?

Triage team? For robots?

Please be more specific. Send a private message if necessary.

So...Romans declared war to India. Wait for me!!!
