Online petition for an updated Civ III editor

Thanks, I did my best at begging and pleading

I hope Steph has better luck! :bounce:
I will not have a better luck at begging and pleading, for I don't beg nor plead. I may not drag an axe everywhere I go, but I'm not a begging pleading  whenever I'd like to have something :p

Yes Please do so. My comp cannot run Civ 4, is too old , I don't like the graphics anyways and Civ Conquests is my favorite video game of all time PERIOD.:goodjob:

I really would love you guys to updates this masterpiece.

Thats the thing, we need the source code from 2k games. Unfortunately they think they can resort to child tactics and simply ignore us rather than being an adult and discussing the issue with us.

Not that I don't share your dismay (even disgust) but they are a business and clearly they see little if any reward in helping us (of course, there's also my theory that they're just embarrassed to let anyone see how poor their code is).

Best,

Oz

I see a reward. Let's think about it. What was their reason for creating CIV3. It wasn't just for money. It was for the pleasure of their fans and fans of turn time strategy. Now, since the reward they got was the happiness of others, wouldn't it seem more of a reward if they released the source code??

No it was entirely money.

See, that's were I think your wrong. People don't sit down and write a game if the motivation was purely money. There has to be some personal reward. Maybe the programmers and designers found a thrill in it. A "WOW....cool, their gonna love this" type of attitude. That is the motivation that would make the game a success.

May I ask what your proffesion is and how much joy you get out of it. Yes individual people might get a thrill out of it but the boss. I.E person not giving us the source code doesn't.

I'm still a student.

What I previously said is being contradicted by their actions. Their actions are selfish and is not how anyone should approach a job. A job should not be look on as "what can I get out of it" but "how can others as well as me benefit from this." Yes I know that the bitter truth is that the former is the way it is today. Ideally it jobs should be approached with an attitude of the latter. My point is that 2k is therefore being selfish and should give us the source code to disprove mine, as well as many other CIV fan's feelings towards them.

Why should they give it to us. I wan't them to. If I was in there position I would. But Stock holders would have a fit.

Why would they not give it to us. The only reason I can think of is that they are selfish and do not wish to share their code, it's as simple as that.

Or perhaps that we'll never buy civ4 robbing the company of money.
