Quip Text was a $0.99 iPhone application used by Applefags for cheaply sending pics, mainly of their bodyparts to friends and family. The EPICNESS that is Quiptext Day is the result of a website realizing that the protocol for sending these pics was secured by only a five digit alphanumeric code; randomize this code using some simple PHP programing, and the millions of pics that these people had sent came spilling out, swamping a website with the biggest tsunami of chemo-OC ever. Within hours, the Quip Text website was shutdown and taken offline, but not before the supposedly private photos of millions of iPhone users were shared with the world. Thus, massive fail became epic win. In addition to the standard pictures of body parts, and every other random awesomeness that perfectly normal everyday people do when they think no one will find out.

Ok, so a lot of this has already happened. Website hacked, privacy ruined. The website is down, but the pictures are out there. What is worse is that the images are linked to names. Facebook attacks are happening right this moment.

If you're stupid enough to use a service that isn't encrypted at all (not to mention is set up in a way that makes the pics easily accessible to anyone) to send pictures of your wangs and boobs to people, you have nothing to complain about now that it finally did get "hacked".

As for the people who built that crap of a site/app, they are amateurs for setting it up the way they did.. Fresh out of highschool/college imillionaire wannabes?

I find it mind boggling for 2 reasons:
1: what's the fascination with sending pictures with body parts? and
2: how on earth can they consider it to be secure?

Anything that is sent electronically you should consider as having been sent to the world, if you wouldn't want it published in your local paper don't send/post it.

I made one of my once-or-twice-a-month stops at a certain controversial image board that's name is censored on here the other day and saw this going on. I didn't really understand what it was at the time but this explains what all the hoopla was about. I feel bad for the people, but I laughed nonetheless.

Agreed entirely. Anyone stupid enough to send "sexts" deserves to be ridiculed publicly, especially if they're dong it through such an obviously inadequate medium. I ordered my girlfriend to never, ever send me one because I'm the jealous type and want her nudity all to myself.
