Open SG Germans correct starting positions on World map

Why? I agree on paris, we should found the new city right on the english channel, one square up from the original site, but why so for the rest? Ohwell.

I would raze the captured city if we could locate a new one in a better position. If not then I'd keep it.:) In any event what I said is only a suggestion - in succession games whoever is currently playing makes all the descisions for his or her turns.

I guess we should make some sort of order for our turns....

We could or we could just leave it as an open game as advertised. (In an open game anyone can play. All you do is post that you are playing then post your summary and sav file within 24 hours.)

I will play either way.:D

Please confirm this is an open game, as I just downloaded the game :crazyeyes

With the intention to play, of course :p

Pre-turn -
I immediately switch Berlin to Pyramids. This is a hugh world. The value of ALL wonders goes way up with a hugh world. I switch Leipzig to settler, so that we can get our third city.

1830 BC - Talk with Rome, they have NOTHING to offer. Cheapskates will only give $20 for pottery, why bother :(
They have 3 cities already.
1790 BC - Orleans drops to size 1, the must have whipped another defender.
1750 BC - Our elite warrior, barely beats a French archer on attack. He dies in the French counter attack.
1725 BC - We lose 1 archer, but take Orleans. France is still alive somewhere, since it could be a respawn in South America, I get a peace treaty gaining $100, and a worker. I was right, France cracked the whip. Orleans frozen at size one for a while, but we have a source for Iron [dance]
1700 BC - Greece forms a city close to my target for our settler.
1675 BC - OK, wish me luck, I am going to try the good hut.
[dance] The Gepid tribe teachs us mysticism.
I spot England, and sell them Mysticism for the whole treasury, $49. I am surprised I can't sell them any communcations. Nice good hut, wasn't it?
I then sell it to Rome for there whole treasury, $54.
Greece can only offer $13, so why bother?
1625 BC - Russia is already on our doorsteps. I spot minsk. They are broke, techno losers.
1600 BC - Hamburg is formed. A second source of future Iron. It is near Greece, so it starts a temple. I buy wheel from France, I might as well know where the horses are. That WILL affect the choice for my next city.
1550 BC - Well I know the next war target, Greece.
1525 BC - Well back to normal - angry warriors from a goodie hut.
1500 BC - The Greeks are moving away from the double horse spot [party]
1475 BC - Russia secures an eventual source of horses, I don't know where the greek settler went. England ALREADY completes the colossus.
1450 BC - We have wines on-line. The people are drunk. Greece switch to the Pyramids.
1350 BC - Orleans can finally grow, now that the wines are connected.
 England knows about Egyptians, Indians, Persians, Babylonians, and Chinesse already.
Interesting, France hasn't a clue, yet.
Give England $80 for communcations with the world.
Give Rome $45 for just the Zulu. That price is a bit high.
Of course, we sell it right back - England gives us $18, Greece $14
Babylon is incredibly backwards and broke.
Thank god, Persia doesn't have Iron yet.
Buy horseback riding from France for $64.
1325 BC - I buy writing from Zululand for $125. The AI is already building the Great Library :(
France has some cash. I sell France writing for $64 (Hmm..., isn't that what I just paid for horseback riding?)
I buy literature from Zululand for $65 & $1/turn.
Berlin switches to Great Library.
1225 BC - Why I pushed 20 turns, Konigsberg is formed, we have horses [party]
1200 BC - :( Berlin should have been build a space south, as is it NOT considered on a river.

Summary - Iron being connectted in 2 spots. More workers heading toward Konigsberg to connect the horses.
Once done, slice and dice in Europe.
GL due in 10 turns. That will let us ignore science until the middle ages

so...it's open? if not you know that you can change (wow!) the Thread subject...

Open games tend to move along faster and can accomodate more than the customary 5 or 6 players.

Sorry for over-stepping your play preTzel_22. I thought you had started a new game and was e-mailing it around. Didn't realize you were playing the 2710 BC sav that was posted!

What's the word on setting up turns versus leaving it an open game?

This game has lots of potential. I hope you're all still here to play!!

I will play the game even if it's open...I'll play like it's closed...that didn't make sense, now did it...I personally think it should be closed. But that my 31,000 Turkish lira (aka $00.02). I'll play whenever you want me to!

-Richard

Not much sense in a summary, heres what I did:

Great Library finished.

Established embassies with Greece, Rome, Russia and England.

Finished temples in some cities, others close.

Started swordsmen and horsemen in cities with temples and barracks.

Established the city of Liege, which needs a temple ASAP!!!
It will flip to England without one.
The next player should change it to library, I didnt think of that in time. It will be finished faster, and generate more culture.

Sold writing to China and Egypt for a total of 76 gold. They are both backwards in tech.

Renamed our cities. :D

Military build up is underway. We need alot more troops.

The Romans should be our first target! They must go!

Still there xrang? If you are just grap the game and play now. Post and let us know you're playing. In an open game you have to step up and play when you can!;)

I'm playing. 24 hrs...be there! thanx donsig 4 the heads ^!

Hmmm... seems this game is leaving me behind :( (I can only get on once a day for half and hour... that's if the computer works... :( sigh) Ohwell.

When I wrote the title of this thread I actually meant 'open spots', not 'open game as in anyone can play'. Ohwell. (that's how I seem to finish every paragraph these days. Ohwell.)

Anyway, to phrase it bluntly, this game is closed (BANG). No new peoples to join.

Also, since I hardly get the chance to visit this thread, would somebody be able to post a roster and update it. If so, thank you in advance (sounds a bit cynical... Ohwell (bang! falls over and starts gagging, people in the background cheer).

by the way
This game has lots of potential.
Somebody likes this game. Golly. That just makes my day, no really, I though nobody liked it. I'm touched  .

The updated roster is:

donsig
joespaniel
me (xrang)
lkendter
EmprorCoopinius

Listen, I have an idea (first time for everything):
I'll start a new thread and I'll entitle it 'German Succession Game on World Map'. I'll then cut 'n' paste each turn summary that has been completed in order. A player roster and turn order will be done as well. So think of the turn order and I'll be posting tonight!:scan:

When you name it "open SG" that means anyone can play

Geez! I know alright! Stop addressing me like I'm dimwitted!
 It was just a mistake!

By the way, just bein' funny :D

The updated roster is: blablabla
Oh great, I don't suppose I get to play... :(

I'll start a new thread and I'll entitle it 'German Succession Game on World Map'

Fine by me.

Turn 1, 800 BC
Indians are building The Pyramids. MMOW (Management of Workers). Since Rome is our next target Veteran Archer outside Bucharest moves to ‘the front’. Warrior and Swordsman both are moved to ‘the ‘front’. I’ve changed the production of two cities that were producing Horseman to Swordsman.

Turn 2, 775 BC
Our prophets have mastered the secret of Polytheism while we were trying for Construction, kewel.

Turn 3, 750 BC
Berlin produced Temple...now Swordsman. Innsbruck completed Barracks, perfect for the new Spearman. Greek Hoplite and Settler are both by Bucharest...not anymore.

Turn 4, 730 BC
The Greeks are still moving in our territory but before I tell them, our great sages have discovered Map Making, another kewel. I told Alexander to get out and he did without a scratch. MMOW.

Turn 5, 710 BC
Alexander wants a territory map and 27 gold...I know we could take him down so I say no. Our prophets have discover Currency! Alborg produced Swordsman, now Galley so that we can explore. Swordsman moved to the front. MMOW. We’re waiting for Innsbruck’s Spearman then we’re OFF TO WAR!

Turn 6, 690 BC
Berlin produced Swordsman, now Library. Some unit movement.

Turn 7, 670 BC
The French (?) Have requested an audience...they want a territory map for our world map. We accept. Am I dreaming things? The French, I thought were destroyed...now they’re down south somewhere. PLEASE clear this up for me... Krakow has produced Swordsman now Granary.

Turn 8, 680 BC
Innsbruck has produced Spearman! WARTIME! Innsbruck is now producing Granary. Bucharest has produced Temple, now Granary. MMOW.

Turn 9, 630
The English have requested an audience..they want 70 gold, World Map, and Map Making for their messily World Map. NO WAY! The Chinese wants territory map and 25 gold for their territory map. OK. The invasion force has assembled! Let the war begin! MMOW.

Turn 10, 610 BC
Caesar doesn’t like that we’ve moved into position...TOO BAD! War is declared on Rome. Berlin made Library, now Marketplace. Alborg has produced Galley now Granary. The Iroquois have completed the Pyramids. The first battle of Rome was won by Veteran Swordsman against Spearman. The second battle of Rome goes even better, Vet Swordsman defeats Spear. The third and last battle of Rome was won and we now control Rome! There’s one resister in Rome, a Warrior will take care of that. Troops are moving to Cumae. MMOW. Galley does some exploration.

Turn 11, 600 BC
Ghandi offers us contact with the Japanese for 11 gold, we take it. Tokugawa wants territory map for our territory map, ok. A Roman Warrior in the Alps is hiding I take him out with Sword.

That’s all, for now! I'll make a new thread btw with a link to this one and Pretzel will be in the roster list
