Chuchi you are welcome to join my NES. The rules are bit more complicaed than is typical, but after a few turns things will be pretty obivous. Scotland is a good emerging nation that is on the edges and not likely to be overwhelmed by aggressive neighbors.
Venice and Ethiopia are other good choices. Or you could be brave and potentially a very powerful player by taking Ming China. If you want toget right into the thick of things choose Bohemia Hungary.

Well, I'm just saying that whoever would try and join Russia is at a huge disadvantage in that they have almost no chance of winning. You're better off at this point just NMRing them.

I disagree, given the amount of backstabbing in diplomacy. Until and unless 3+ nations focus entirely on Russia, it can hold out.

Well, I've returned after about two months (I think) without internet access. Any suggestions for what's good? Basically anything traditional (that, among other things, means no cradles) that is pre-20th century would be good.
Harleqin's NES and MjM's NES. Daft's is good as well, though it's not exactly on Earth. It's on a world very similar to it.
LINESII is still running, though you apparently don't want a cradle, and I've already got tons of players.
