Generally speaking, I see jabbing oneself repeatedly with a safetypin to be a sign of mental illness.

edit: no offense there noncon. You could also say arguing with strangers all day online about piercings is also a sign of nuttiness;)
:D None taken. I'm crazy, but not crazy enough to get Tetanus (BTW, if anyone knows a good source of stainless steel safety pins, feel free to tell me!

@CD: The first girl really needs to do something about her hair!
I think she has amazing hair:p In regards to her actual piercings, I think tehy really suit her look.

Anyway, anyone else got any pics of people with peircings, so we can see what looks good?

eBay- it has everything doncha know!

And as for the benefits of a tongue pierceing... girls are generally V. curious what it feels like- being kissed, and more! :groucho:

I can't believe how conservative so many of you are. :shakehead

What I find interesting is the connection between piercings and sexuality.

You to hip for these peeps Mathilda? lets jive!...

BE- i know, its great :)

Sloz, so what is it exactly about a piece of metal stuck in somebodys face that people find attractive?

well tongue ones obviously alter, and (to a degree depending on the person) augment their kissing style and other uses.

I also think if you look at it simply as jewelry rather than the fact its a piecing makes things easier to understand

Heh, a friend of mine has a prince albert. Only men can pull off those ;)

Personally I would never get a piercing, but as long as one does not overdo it, they are fine by me...

It that the one on the the tip of the penis?

Does anybody have any problem passing the airport controls? does the metal detector machines bleep if you have loads of piercings?

And does piercings interfere with NMR machines (the ones with cryomagnets)?

Its alot more than just jewelry. Theres seems to be an eroticism associated with facial and body piercings that you dont see with other forms of adornment.

Nuthin wrong with piercings that I can see.
Have 3 at the moment in my ears, used to have a tongue stud (took it out because of how it was affecting my teeth but I still miss it. My ex gf liked it ;))
Went out with a girl who had a labret, and that was sexy on her, but again it depends on who they suit. My sisters have a few (more than a few) piercing between them and have successful jobs, bfs etc. I know heaps of people with piercings, nothing wrong with them if you ask me.
Oh and when you go into hospital for an op or into a NMR machine etc you have to remove all metal and jewelry, including piercings.

well an ear peircing in itself isnt very sexy. Id wager the "erotic" piercing tend to be in erotic places to begin with...

Take for example a nipple piercing. Whats sexy about that? I think it has something to do with sadomasochism.

nipples are highly sensitive, more so for females. They are also a erotic part of the body. Also there is a bit of a taboo over seeing females nipples (banned in the Babe thread for example)

and a female seeing a nipple piercing? Well ive no idea WHY she would find it alluring, but i hope it isnt the desire to twist it till its hurts! (MAD SADO *****!)

Personally, if you want to set off a metal detector from several feet away, or have your own magnetic field, that's fine with me.
When you put it that way, it seems quite cool!

This is a good point. I rarely see how a piercing makes soemone more attractive, the pic I posted of that girl demonstrates how I think it can suit someone but rarely do I think someone is more attractive because of a piercing.

I don't care one way or another whether people pierce stuff. Mustaches on men are scarier to me than piercings.

Depending on your career I'd think about the consequences of visible piercings. I know a guy who had to make a presentation in front of a client and the hole was still there from back in his uni days. He felt pretty self-conscious.
Another guy told me he had the "guy only" piercing which he said made for some pretty stimulating encounters however it oozed. That sounds more like a problem than fun to me.
